*NOTE (DESURA)* - If you're having problems with the Desura version (we are too), you can download version 1.1.2 through the link at the bottom of this article. Sorry for the inconvenience, we contacted Desura about it, hopefully it's working soon!

Hi everyone!

Today, Segatakai will be released for download on Desura! In case you haven't noticed, we changed the team's name from Negative² Games to Indemonai Games for various reasons which we will not bore you with. So, with the release of the game on Desura, we made a new build of the game (1.1.2) with the new team logos. I will be uploading version 1.1.2 onto IndieDB today as well and updating this article once it is up. The core game is untouched, so if you have version 1.1 there's no need to re-download the game once again (unless you want to see our new logo in game!)

We also released a Soundtrack sampler, which you can see right here:

If you enjoy the music and would like to help Indemonai Games with our future projects, you can purchase the soundtrack right here: Bandcamp. There are two versions available: "Barebones" - contains 4 songs; and "Complete" - contains 10 songs.

We will be discussing our new projects (hopefully) very soon, so stay tuned to our IndieDB page and our Official Website if you enjoyed Segatakai!

We have contacted Desura about this problem, we are having it too.

Meanwhile you can download version 1.1.2 on IndieDB, which is weird since it is exactly the same version that was submitted to Desura but works.

We're waiting for a reply from Desura, we're expecting it sometime on Monday hopefully.

Sorry for the inconvenience :(

Crash after clicking on "PLAY" (french logs sorry copy/paste) :
[HIDDEN - See full stack trace below]
Signature du problème 01: unsetup.exe
[HIDDEN - See full stack trace below]
Signature du problème 09: System.NullReferenceException
[HIDDEN - See full stack trace below]

Which led to this other crash right after closing the program :
[HIDDEN - See full stack trace below]

Tryed also after modifying some settings like graphics to very low, windowed mode and even 800x600.
I tryed to change the difficulty also, same problem.

OS : Windows 7 x64

I wish I could have a full stack trace to show, all I got is the NullReferenceException :/

Tryed launching the game directly without Desura, same problem.
Tryed launching Segatakai.exe in WindowsXP compatibility mode, same problem.

I think I've done all I could without any knowledge of the game internals.

Mmmh nope, I found a full stacktrace in the Event Observer :
Application : UnSetup.exe
Version du Framework : v4.0.30319
Description : le processus a été arrêté en raison d'une exception non gérée.
Informations sur l'exception : System.NullReferenceException
Pile :
à UnSetup.Utils.GetEULAAccepted()
à UnSetup.Utils.DisplayEULA()
à UnSetup.Program.Main(System.String[])

As I can read, the program crashed when EULA would have showed, but I had no EULA to accept ever.

Thanks for sharing your log. We have contacted Desura about this problem, we are having it too (even though our Log is different, it crashes in the same place). Meanwhile you can download version 1.1.2 on IndieDB, that works - which is weird since it is exactly the same version that was submitted to Desura.

Also, changing options on the Desura version won't do a thing, since the Launcher should be running as admin to be able to edit the game settings files, but for some reason after release on Desura it isn't.

We're waiting for a reply from the guys at Desura, we're expecting it sometime on Monday since I'm sure no one reads e-mails during the weekend.

Sorry for the inconvenience :\

Hey guys, Negative² Games changed its name to Indemonai Games due to various reasons. Better do something like this early than later! Just to let you know :) We will be updating the logos in Segatakai when we build the Desura version.

Very well done, one of the creepiest and most impressive Slender games I've played yet! Made a little video of me trying to get all the pages but I got so confused when walking around in the house. Video: Youtu.be

Of course, another stupid "slender" game to continue ruining the whole myth of the Slenderman getting more and more idiots who can't get a name correct to join creepypasta sites and post more stories about how they killed the slenderman with the auto shotgun with infinite ammo that was in their backpack when they went hiking and found pages that have nothing to do with the story at all hung around trees. Bravo, thanks for finally ruining all of the slenderman.

Well damn. Sorry, that came of really rude there, apologize.
If you could please ignore my last post and read this:
People always fail to see what that Slenderman really is. They mostly believe its a creature called "Slender" which nails pages on trees to kill anyone entering that territory. Why dont you just make a more different and more real game? Like for example just survive the slenderman for some time, or have a story based game where people really realize what the slenderman really is and how much more scary he also is. We got million slenderman games where you run around an open map collecting 5-8 pages to win, but it would be pretty cool also to just have some more open world / survival style slenderman game where you have to deal with stuff like the slender sickness, paranoia, being stalked by the slenderman at first and briefly seeing it on your pherispheral vision and later on having it start hunting and killing you. Still, your game looks nice and again im sorry for the rude post but I seem to not be able to delete it.

Hi Unknown3000, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, even though your first observation was rather rude / passionate about the subject (believe me, I understand). Apology accepted, and thanks for showing maturity.

I like all those ideas as well, and apart from the pages thing, we did try to follow the slenderman mythos in detail, we even have a pre-production document detailing the whole mythology on our development archives. This was more evident when we had a story built around the game (which is still present in a small blog that will be up soon), but, this was our first game, it was built from prototypes and tests - we wanted to do something small and something that would not take us too much time so we could venture on with our other project that was already in talks. So yeah, we admit and never once have hidden that this is a "slenderclone", that's what we sought to do, and what we thought would be fast and actually interesting and useful to work on (the whole AI is very interesting, and we used this project to explore and experiment with atmosphere and other stuff we want to add to our next game).

But yeah, we also once thought of doing something more intricate, but time wasn't our friend, and we wanted to move on to our new game which was completely ours (as in, not based in any other mythology or game) and is what we feel passionate to work on right now. Plus, a game like you described, even if amazing, would take years to develop. Maybe someone will work on something similar soon :)

Cheers.
