Being a pro­gram­mer, you some­ti­mes have to sup­p­ress all scru­ples during deve­lop­ment. The task of imple­men­ting an ani­ma­tion sys­tem doesn’t actually sound that dra­ma­tic, but neit­her our cha­rac­ter nor I saw this hor­ri­ble sce­na­rio coming.

You won’t get very far with com­pu­ter ani­ma­ti­ons, wit­hout using mathe­ma­tics. Matri­ces, vec­tors, inver­si­ons and com­plex mul­ti­p­li­ca­ti­ons are ever­y­where! And even when you think you’ve finally figu­red it out, it may still take a long while before you reach the desi­red result.

During deve­lop­ment, I occa­sio­nally made recor­dings of this hor­ri­fic pro­cess, which I have now put toge­ther to a short video.

His sad face and his crooked limbs still haunt me in my dreams…
