An action/adventure game taking ques from both film-noir and samurai-drama's of old, "samurai_jazz" takes players on an adventure through an enigmatic city, engaging in realistic sword-fights, encounters with mythological beings, and quirky dialog with the local inhabitants all presented in a pseudo 8-bit format. While action remains the central focus, a bit of detective work and puzzle-solving is necessary along with the usage of twitch-reflexes while having to plan and perform strategies effectively to overcome each of the game's abstract scenarios.

May 20th of 2013 is when samurai_jazz will be available to the public through Desura.
The game itself is a pseudo 8-bit hack'n'slash with an atmosphere taking inspiration from samurai drama and film-noir cinema. But what sets this hack'n'slash apart from the others is the game's demand for more strategic thought when approaching each of the action scenarios, rather than the straight forward, button-mashing solutions commonly resolving the battles fought throughout the genre. Instead, players must defeat strategically placed enemies of different varieties who require unique strategies to defeat.
It's adventure side has players strolling through an enigmatic city, engaging in quirky dialogue with the locals, doing them favors, solving puzzles, and learning about the ronin whom you play as. There are plenty of varied environments to explore presented in a graphic novel format with an atmospheric soundtrack to set a jazzy tone for the player to take in during the adventure.
