Hello Moddb community!

Our first tech demo powered by the CryEngine 3 is finally released!
As the player you have to survive a tropical island with deadly Velociraptors lurking around the corner!
We hope you will enjoy these first steps as we embark on a journey taking us millions of years into the past!

Please note that the current tech demo is only a proof of concept showing basic AI behavior like stalking, resting and basic approaches to pack behavior.
We are currently concentrating our efforts on creating the complex ecosystem that existed in North America 65,5 million years ago step by step and constantly expand the world and the animals that lived during that time.
However the tech demo is by no means a representation of that and the environment aswell as the dinosaur design, animation and AI are only made for test purposes and will be replaced at some point in the future.

The core idea behind this game is to create a free-roaming open-world game experience where you as either a human or even a dinosaur can explore the different prehistoric environments and locations with their vast variety of inhabitants - most notably the dinosaurs - living in a realistic and life-like ecosystem.
The game play will mainly be driven by survival and puzzle solving but in addition to that will also feature for example mission-based, story-driven and dinosaur-based gameplay modes that we will attend in the future.
Furthermore some of the game modes will feature entirely original dinosaurs, characters and stories currently known under the codename CRYNOSAURS or most of the iconic dinosaurs and structures from the JURASSIC PARK franchise.

While we've been mostly concentrating on Crynosaurs for the last year, we also collaborated with Colin on Jurassic Park Aftermath and finally brought our JP Raptor to life - check out the trailer below:

The time has finally come to give you guys something to play.
We've all agreed our progress is far enough along to share it with everyone.
We hope you enjoy it. :)
Remember folks, this is just the first step of many more toward our goal. It is far from perfection.
Some of you will encounter some interesting bugs, most of which we are painfully aware of and working on.
Despite the issues, we feel it is still an enjoyable experience and thought it better to give everyone something to play now as we continue development.

This first dinosaur was a learning experience in many ways for all of us involved.
As they say, the first step is always the hardest. Going forward we now hope to apply what we've learned to further refine and expand the ecosystem.
Also keep in mind, this tech demo is just a proof of concept and isn't really specific to either a Crynosaurs or RTJP game.

We're very thankful to all those who have or are still contributing their time and effort to help realize this game.
Special thanks to NTass94 who spent his whole summer holidays to get the beautiful map for the tech demo done in time.
A lot of people outside the core team contributed their time to make this demo possible.
A special thanks to all of those who supported the project by giving us constructive feedback and spreading the word.
Also, a big thanks to the entire crydev community, especially to users seithcg, beast and all of the Crytek staff!
We are truly grateful for your support.

We're still as motivated as ever and will continue to keep you updated on our progress.
We look forward to hearing your feedback on the tech demo so we can use it to make the next release that much better.
We still have a long, long way to go but if we keep at it, we're confident we can eventually get there.

We're currently expanding the team, if anyone is interested in contributing their time to the project in any way please let us know.
There are always things that need done, big and small.

Oh, I almost forgot...stay out of jungle at night. ;)

I assume he is referring to the survival aspects OR genre that define DayZ, not the enemies you encounter. Game-mecahnics like; Physiological needs, Day/Night simulation, sandbox/free-roaming gameplay, MMO mechanics. etc.

All of which only the devs can answer correctly, but they have used the word "survival" loosely a few times.

This is like DayZ meet Dinocrisis? LOL Didn't like DayZ (the concept is great but it just failed?) and Dinocrisis was not open world so err that sucked but was great at the start! (until later editions got into weird space ****.)

What I mean to say is, I have been on your site, I have looked at ever picture! And I don't think you can go too wrong.. I can not wait to play this! I would pay^^ keep going guys :D ridiculously amazing job!

Hey guys, I'd like to give out some really neat suggestions. I know there's almost a 0% chance you will do them, but I just thought it would be cool to post anyways.

Random buildings (most small some medium broken down houses) = Can have different loot like different weapons and Misc items. I suggest making weapons a more rare chance to get.

A prehistoric crocodile = Something like a Sarcosuchus that would roam around most lakes and rivers and swamps would be cool

Have small reptiles and birds and even small mammels like rats just fly/walk around the map (most if not all are un-killable and are just for show)

Have a extremely mega rare creature like a bigfoot roaming the entire map (Only 1% chance of spawning everytime you start the game) = I know the modeling, movement, and everything else would be a pain in the ***. Just a "lol" thought I had as I was written the other suggestions.

Actually the chance for most of that is pretty high.

There will be some random buildings and some of them might have hidden items.
And weapons and especially ammo for it will definitely be rare atleast for the free-roaming survival mode.

And since our main goal is to have a proper ecosystem that also includes prehistoric crocodiles and other animals like the examples you mentioned since smaller theropodes need to eat something too and maybe you as a player might find a rat tasteful when you have nothing else to eat ...

And we probably wont have a bigfoot although that is quiet an amusing idea.
However we will try to include as much easter eggs as we can.

@RtJP_Mod, can I give you 2 suggestions?

Like I said to the Crynosaur guys, the original Jurassic Park had huge trees, which made the jungle very unrealistic, but much more epic/magical.
It gave a Lost World look to the original movie, otherwise we wouldn't have that scene with Grant and the kids in the tree, looking at the Brachiosaurs in the distance.
I think you should at least consider adding in some big, unreal trees.

Also, if you're going do like Stalker and make the player eat food to avoid dying, can you add an option to turn that feature on/off? I think it would open up the game to a lot more people (like me :P).
