  • Added nicer effects on some powerups
  • Added auto-search for assets folder when it can't be located
  • Added vertical sync option to menu
  • Added achievement for popping an imploder straight away
  • Added about a year's worth of SFML updates
  • Added new music track
  • Added better random AI generation
  • Added visual aim assist helpers
  • Fixed crash on pressing cancel in the 'unsafe close' dialog
  • Fixed various shader problems on each platform
  • Windows: fixed taskbar icon
  • Linux: fixed input bugs in fullscreen & startup dialog boxes
  • Linux: changed vertical sync to default to on

See below for cross-platform goodness ;)

And here's a video of the new visual assist in this release:

I hope to start rounding things off and finishing the campaign from now on!

Ah that's what I suspected, I have a friend who is having the same problem. When I have time, I'm going to install Debian myself and try fixing it.

It's more that I haven't really had much time; I've moved house and had several job interviews since then! I am half way through downloading Debian at the moment. Do the repositories you're using have a libGLEW.so.1.6 available?

Yes, and apt shows I have config files of it left, suggesting I tried it. (not 100% sure though)

Have you been able to get to the load screen using any version? Because if you can modify the cfg it'll work from there.

Strange...I ran it in a VM on Debian 6.0.5 64bit, and it worked up until the load screen closed. I ran ldd on libsfml-graphics and saw it depends on libGLEW.so.1.5, which was also reported as missing.

I don't know why mine would get that far and yours wouldn't (I have a stock install and haven't touched libs at all), since I can't even find GLEW installed.

If I do ./desura_launch_play in the terminal, I can see Rotion's output and that it is crashing on a shader load. I may be able to fix that but it probably wouldn't solve anything for you if glew isn't linking properly (before it even starts).

Does not work on Debian stable. Here is the error message:

/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.14' not found (required by /mnt/data/games/desura/common/rotion/Rotion)

You should not build the game with the latest compilers!

Could you try again once it has updated? It should now depend on glibc 2.11.

Unfortunately, errors are the very same. Rotion binary and sfml libraries require GLIBC_2.14, and libsfml-network requires 2.15.

Is this the updated build? AFAIK it hasn't been authorised yet. I forgot that it was Friday so it may be a day or two before Desura releases it.

He has an older version of glibc. If the game was compiled on a newer release of glibc (like 2.15 in 12.04) it won't work on older versions. (But older versions generally work on newer releases). That is why many developers compile on distros with older software, like Debain Stable, CentOS or an Ubuntu LTS that has been out for at least 1 year. Then they test that compiled software on newer releases as well. This way it works regardless of your glibc version. Good releases that are mature and stable for this include, Ubuntu 10.04 (from 2010 but still supported until April 2013) and CentOS as they have glibc 2.13 or older.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I installed an older Ubuntu on a VM but it seems I went too far back and couldn't get any of the libs I needed - I'll try 10.04.
