Rogue's Tale is a single player turn-based dungeon crawling game. The game takes place in a place called Frostmourn Keep and its underlying dungeons located in the World's End Mountains. The goal is to overthrow the current king of the Frostmourn Keep and become the new king. A demo version and game guide can be found on the homepage. Key features: - Classless character building where you can choose to be the kind of rogue you want. - Seemingly unfair, untimely and unforgiving deaths which are also permanent. - Ways to counter these deaths by learning the game mechanics. - Random dungeons and encounters. - 24 talents to build your character with. - 30 spells to build your character even further. - 30 heritages that make your next character stronger. - 30 challenges to complete once you get the hang of the game.

Another year and another version. 1.06 should become available in about a day or so featuring new overlay tileset, new boss level with lots of tentacles, new creatures to tackle, minor survivability buff for low level characters in the form of snails (lots of them), heritage dog and an in-game level editor.

The difference is that the level cap is 20 instead of 10, you can learn 6 talents instead of 3 and the game becomes harder at around level 12 when the enemies learn new talents (demo is kind of an easy mode). In addition, some challenges are either almost impossible or impossible to complete in the demo.

As for the Steam part, the progress there seems so slow that the Sun will probably go nova before the green monster standing on the way is defeated. Having said that, I suppose I could make a promise that "if" it gets there and "if" Steam still allows handing over keys at that time, I can throw them to whomever has bought the game here.

Okay i have played this game for a while, and i do like a challange. But this is just too damn unfair, i have many times died right at the beginning without taking one step. The monster strength is not the problem it is the spawning of them, im not saying this game needs to be easier. But it would be more fun if it was a bit more fair, give the player the feeling he can survive for atleast 3 levels and than crush his spirit. But not at the start not like this.

i understand if ppl find this game too hard, unforgiving and totally unfair. but as i see it, thats exactly what nibbe wanted this rogue-like to be! and i totally like it this way! just give it some time and as you unlock some heritages, you'll increase your chances to survive - though u will still die quickly if u aren't cautious. and the longer u survive, the more ways u discover to stand against the mobs.

this game is very addictive, its easy to control (unlike many other rogue-likes) and makes the best out of the content it offers.

Agreed. I am having a hell of a time but i love it. I still haven't unlocked anything but i'm learning as i go. those videos just posted helped me out a bit as i only watched the 1-10 level video. I figure if i make it to level 10 i'm happy for now. Made it to level 9 then i kicked a grave and got my arse handed to me by a warlock, LOL. Also if there are any easter eggs or secrets, tips to find. if there are any clues or suggestions on how to get them that would be a bonus to us having a hard time with this game and losing heart and patience to keep playing. I just think that would be a bonus to your gamer audience, tnx. This game is one of the best investments i made since i bought Tales of Majeyal here on desura. Keep up the great work and just one more thing. Is there any talk of a new patch here on desura with anything new coming, Inquiring minds want to know these things. ;)

Yes, rated a 10. Now, before you act like "GRASPEE SAYS", and start throwing a fit about it being a difficult game at the start... DUH... it's a Roguelike!!! This game is not well-balanced with respect to the difficulty the player experiences as the game goes in. Basically it seems there is too much randomness and not enough procedural stuff going on in the design of levels. As others have pointed out, you can start out surrounded by three enemies.
