Rising Storm is a mod for the soon-to-be-released title from Tripwire Interactive, Heroes of Stalingrad. It will bring the intense and realistic firefighting of 'Heroes of Stalingrad' to the Pacific Theater, 1942-45, pitting the US Army and Marine Corps against the Imperial Japanese Army and Special Naval Landing Forces. The bloody multiplayer battles will be fought out across the Pacific from the Philippines through to Okinawa and will feature all the innovations of 'HoS' and a few more of its own. The development team features some of the leading lights of the Red Orchestra modders along with some very strong candidates from the various CG communities that can be found across the world. There are over 20 of the top 'stars of the future' on the team, thanks to the support of Tripwire. The mod team team have been given advance access to the development tools to bring all the latest features of the Unreal engine to bear on this project, promising a superlative gaming experience.

We are pleased to announce the $25,000 Banzai Community Mapping Contest for Rising Storm! Tripwire are once again bringing you a truly spectacular mapping contest, this time for Rising Storm, that will give all of the amazing talent in the modding community a chance to shine. The headline prize will be an awesome $10,000 for the Grand Prize winner.

Unlike our previous contest there will be only one required deadline for the competition – Checkpoint “Beta” which completes on November 5
th. Checkpoint “Alpha” which completes September 3rd is optional, but will allow mappers to submit their maps to the judges for early feedback. This will allow the mappers to make adjustments based on the judges’ feedback well in advance of the final deadline. The Grand Prize will be $10,000. Yes, a full Ten Thousand Dollars for the winning entry! There will be prize money for the runners-up as well.

The Application Form will be open nearer the closing date for each Checkpoint, as you only need to submit your entries when they are ready and not every single time you create a new version (please!). Keep watching the Rising Storm website for news on when we will open the application forms. But start mapping. Now! There is only one way to win – and that is to create an awesome map. So get to it…

"Rising Storm is a total conversion modification for the eagerly awaited WWII First-person Shooter, Heroes of Stalingrad: Red Orchestra; based on the Pacific campaign of 1941-45. It is unique in that it is a mod in which there is financial compensation for the development team from the backing studio."

"You are not only paying the game, you are paying the game and mods and all patchs and free dlcs(YES FREE) that we´ll be releasing for the game"

Tripwire actually always lies and later on changes the facts. And if Rising Storm costs anything I won't be getting it.

I have only followed the development since July 2010, but I never ever ever heard TWI say that RS would be free for sure. If RS will be worth a decent amount of money, it might cost some.

When did they say that? I only recall hearing that we should not expect it to be released until perhaps 1 year after RO2 release.

Please add more sway (as much as ostfront's),slow down aiming down the sight (same speed as ostfront and darkest hour),put in ostfront's limb damage, fix the controls, and don't use the godawful RO2 bandaging system. Tripwire screwed up so bad making Red Orchestra 2. It's not even half as good as Red Orchestra Ostfront. It plays like a twitch shooter.

Sway is unrealistic, the only way you would have sway like RO1 has is if you were drunk, near death, or REALLY tired.
