Hi Desura community! :)

I'm proud to announce that the full version of my game "Rico - A Tale Of Two Brothers" is finally released! It's available for Windows, Mac and Linux. And if you like to play on a mobile device, there's an Android version too!

Rico - A Tale Of Two Brothers is a retro inspired platformer that mixes elements from many great classics like Pitfall, Super Mario, Castlevania and Knytt with my own humble ideas. A game with a nostalgic feeling while still staying fresh. I wanted to create something I would have loved to play as a child and still love to play now!

Rico features 32 levels, boss battles, collectible crystals, numerous different enemies and traps, 4 difficulty levels and a catchy chiptune soundtrack by Bunnymajs!

If you're interested, head over to the Desura page to get it! There's also a demo version that lets you play the first 8 levels including the first boss fight for free, so why not try it out? :)

Thanks for your time!

I downloaded the demo and aslong as I am playing it with a keyboard it works just fine. However I would like to play it with my 360 gamepad. The problem is that I can setup the keys just fine but when I try to use the pad it does not move or jump at all and I have to go back using the keyboard again. Anyone got a suggestion how to solve the problem?

I'm sorry it doesn't work for you! The game library I'm using still has some issues with certain types of controllers. I hope I can fix that ASAP. As a workaround, you can use JoyToKey (http://www-en.jtksoft.net/) or something similar if you're not on Windows.

I use JoyToKey even for Binding of Isaac... it is a great solution to many games you want to play with a controller

Sorry to hear that... :(
Have you tried running it from the command line? That should give at least an error message. Please send me that via PM!

My game is from the BeMine6 Bundle, not from Desura. So I tried to install the Demo here and it worked. Then I tried to run the full game and now its running =D
Looks like it was missing something or some Java update. Thanks for the quick reply IMakeGames!

It still won't launch from Desura unless end users perform a fix.

PLEASE add "#!/bin/sh" (without the quotes) as the first line of Rico.sh. That's how Linux knows how to execute a shell script. (Some GUI tools do mimic the Windows "detect by file extension" behaviour too, but the Desura client isn't one of them.)

Without that fix, attempting to start a freshly-installed copy of Rico just opens Rico.sh in the user's default text editor.

Thanks for the (repeated) bug report! I don't know how, but the fix somehow didn't make it in the newest release. I screwed up, sorry! It's also strange how it got through Desura's review process. Anyway, I will fix it and release a new version ASAP.

Thanks again!

Hi, here (Debian Sid 64), the launcher complains about libgdx-freetype64.so, requiring GLIBC_2.14 whereas Sid is now using Glibc 2.13-36. Is it possible to include an older version of libgdx-freetype ?

Sorry for replying so late...
I'm not on Linux, so it's hard to find out which version of libgdx-freetype requires which glibc version. And switching back might break a whole lot of other stuff... :( Would you be very mad if I say I can't do that and you need to wait until your Linux distro updates?

Of course, i can wait ;)
I saw a bit later this library (gdx) is really new, so i suppose it's quite normal that some Linux distro need to be updated to use it! Anyway, dankeschön für die Antwort! :)
