Remorse:

Greed, the eternal sin.
In the year 2054 Earth was dying planet. It's once lush forests
replaced with man made structures such as artificial life sustaining
plants, power plants and housing. Oceans drained, and used as building
zones. Earth was no longer a living planet but had become a dead
celestial body.
All of this because of the actions of 1 species, Mankind.
By 2060 even man's replacements of nature that made life on Earth
possible, failed. First, the artificial ozone layer started to fall
apart as a result of extreme solar flares. Without adequate protection
the flares ravaged the southern parts where the shield had crumbled.
Virtually everyone died. Next were power shortages caused by fact that
the solar cells simply fried because of the increase in exposure to the
sun. And without power, it seemed as if the end was near.
However, just hours later the sun became calmer and the solar
flares stopped. The damage to the shield was quickly repaired and life
continued like nothing had ever happened. The truth however was much
different. During the following days, strange diseases alien to
humanity swept throughout the entire planet killing millions on it's
path. In the time frame of 1 week nature's most violent yet most
successful creation had seen it's population decrease from 26 billion
to roughly 40 million.
Is this end of an era, the end of the reign of man?

The engine:
Remorse uses a home brew engine called "Existence 2.0" using OpenGL
and SDL which allows the engine to be cross-platform. The engine is
developed entirely by our main coder who will also stand in for the
game code.

It's been a long time since our last update so I'm very happy to be posting again. A lot of exciting things have happened over the past few months like:
-Real time shadow implementation
-Animation support
-Editor updates
-New concepts
-New website
And the list goes on. Here's some new media:
Showcasing the new animation support (note: animated model+textures/animations are placeholders taken from doom 3 to showcase the animation system)

Pretty impressive. It's to see it's open source too, that way many can contribute to the code.
Where's the cvs/svn though? I see the sourceforge one hasn't been updated in 3 years.
bares a striking resemblance to doom 3
So... any news?
The forums seem to be down right now and I haven't talked to Dean in a few weeks, but I'll try to get a hold of him. :)
Can we see a small update please =)
Hi guys, we didn't put all of our technology into the demo to keep it stable and fast. In our next piece of work, we plan to show some more dynamical effects like particles and animated models. You can't have it all in one go :)
For those of you who want to try the editor:
- Start the demo map
- Press ~ to get the console
- Type editor and press resturn
We must stress that the editor is in an early stage of development.
What we really need at the moment is a texture artist. Good quality textures are extremely important for the look and feel of the game, so we need some talent working on that.
forgot to say it looks realy nice
vrry up to date :)
if you want i can allso render some textures (with normal map, specular map,...) for testing or so
if you want to see some, heres my msn: dark_raver9@hotmail.com
it looks great
but when i tried the test buikd the entire world was static (no bloom :'( ) and i couldnt fire
i allso cant seem to find the ingame editor
is this normal in this build?(2.0 build2) or is there something on my end?
Thank all of you for your kind words,
This sure is a real boost for everyone on the development team,
D@rson, we'll get in touch this evening :)
Thanks again :D
If this is only the begining the I wonder what the engine will like when its done!
