Focusing on the Battle of Stalingrad and surrounding operations, Heroes of Stalingrad allows the player to experience one of the most brutal battles in all of human history. For the first time ever in a first person shooter gamers will be able to experience WWII from the Axis side in a German single player campaign. As always with the Red Orchestra franchise, Tripwire will aim to deliver unrivalled accuracy and attention to detail, along with gritty, vicious combat in multi-player, co-op and solo modes.

Let's dive right into the topic shall we? We're starting with the long-promised screenshots of our german player model which Kaminski did a fantastic job on. Please mind that these are still a work in progress, but this in-engine shot out of the Red Orchestra 2 editor shows where we are at the moment. We are proud to present our German Schütze to all of you. Thanks to Kaminski for the great modelling and texturing work as well as Coin-goD for the import into the engine.
Next on the list is our Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III*, also known as .303 caliber, Rifle, Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfield or simply SMLE. It was the workhorse of the British forces in World War 1 and the counterpart of the german Gewehr 98 in countless battles. Our forum regulars already know that asset a bit because Coin-goD posted a Work in Progress in his art dump on the forums, so if you aren't registered there yet, you should seriously consider it to get an early access on what we are working on. The Mk III* was developed from the Mk III and is a simplified and cheaper version of the latter. Unusal for the time is the detachable magazine with a capacity of 10 bullets though it was mostly loaded with two stripper clips from the top like most of the other ordonance rifles at the time. The SMLE is known for it's fast and easy to use action and trained soldiers could get up to 20 aimed shots per minute out of the rifle. But enough of the talking, let the picture speak.
And the last image today actually features two assets and is the reason for the bad pun in the title. Doughboy has made these awesome whistles for us. They were issued to officers and often used to signal the beginning of an attack or charge on the enemies trenches. When the shelling suddenly stopped and you would hear a whistle sound from across the no mans land you knew: There is an attack coming. We plan to add those in a way to Grabenkrieg that which reflects to real life use, plus adding a gameplay mechanic that makes them actually useful. Expect more info from us on that topic.
So what else are we currently up to in the Grabenkrieg Development team? First and foremost we are still searching for help in a lot of positions, especially in the code and animation department, so if you are someone or know someone or know someone who knows someone that could be able to help us send them our way, any referals are greatly appreciated. Any interested and able person can just drop us a line to recruitment@grabenkrieg.com or register in our forums and visit the recruitment section.
Our current focus next to asset production is the coding. Blitzk.-Bob is doing some awesome work and has pushed us along very nicely. A special thanks goes out to Red Orchestra 2's community code god -=THOR=- here, who helped us a lot along the way.
As always, please check out our Website, Forums and our Facebook Page. Hope you enjoyed the media release and news bits so far, see you soon!

Story: This level isn't based off of any real life battles. This is mostly fiction, but i'm sure the story has happened before. Red Army: The Germans...
Revenge of the Turul is a modification for the game Red Orchestra Ostfront 1941-45. It focuses on the Royal Hungarian Army in this time. But it also includes...

Bah, another good game ruined by freaking persistant stat sh-...
I suppose as long as the player has the option to delete their profiles or turn stat-tracking off for offline play then I could accept such a tainted blight of a feature.
Company of Heroes was is bad enough having stat tracking count for offline skirmish games...they dont even allow you to reset/delete your main profile. Though they do allow creation of as many profiles as you want to delete and recreate at one's leasure...
Then again, if they do force feed that persistant stat cr- in singleplayer at least they had the common courtesy of letting me know so I can save $50 for a game without it. I'd rather have DRM up the yinyang then that PS garbage.
the stat tracking is needed for the heroes system they have. if you're going to dismiss every other quality of this game based on stat tracking, then you're quite silly, sorry.
most games do have stat tracking, btw, it's just not built into gameplay. so form a technical perspective, stat tracking isn't some kind of resource guzzler either.
btw if you're suggesting that state tracking will force you to play a certain way, then i don't know what to say. you don't have any self control? just don't look at the states. simple.
You shouldn't degrade a game that hasn't even released yet. The "stat tracking" may be different than other games [even if there is one].
I'm not degrading the game, I'm degrading the very idea of stat-tracking...theres a rather big difference. Wretched, wretched idea period.
And I have no idea what they could possibly do to make Stat Tracking different. As defined stat tracking is a usually unresetable persistant log usually consisting of:
-Number of Wins
-Number of Losses
-Number of Kills
-Number of Deaths
-Kills:Deaths Ratio
-Accuracy
etc etc etc
Now if they had a way that players could reset that log whenever they wanted, it would be fine. Better yet, if they had a option in game settings to disable stat tracking that would be even better because then the people who don't care at all about stupid, meaningless statistics and just want to have a fun game without being force-fed a competative atmosphere wont have to click the stat-reset button at the end of each game.
Heroes of Stalingrad may very well be a awsome game, but just like Company of Heroes, stat tracking does nothing but ruin a good thing.
I've got to agree with Eliz, here. While stat-tracking can be insignificant in many cases, the way it's used in so many multiplayer-based games these days to force a competitive environment on the player is annoying, and only takes away from the atmosphere and enjoyment of the game.
i dont get it, i play call of duty 4 alot, my stats are probably very bad, but i mean who cares, i just ignore them and really, its like they arent there.... i mean i pay no attention to them and neither does anyone else. you can have fun with stat tracking, just ignore your stats, thats what i do. actuelly untill i read that comment i have forgotten all about my stats on that game for the past year or 2 now, why, because i dont care they dont do anything except keep a history of it, and it does not become competative at all. its pretty much a feature that doesn't matter.
You're right. We shouldn't be making a big deal out of nothing.
Thanks mate!
thanks for agreeing!
