Red Eclipse is a fun-filled new take on the casual first person arena shooter, built as a total conversion of Cube Engine 2, which lends itself toward a balanced gameplay, with a general theme of agility in a variety of environments. It features: Parkour, impulse boosts, dashing, and other tricks. Favourite game modes with an array of mutators and variables. A built-in editor lets you create your own maps cooperatively online. The project is a Free and Open Source game, built on Cube Engine 2 using SDL and OpenGL which allows it to be ported to many platforms; you can download a package for Windows, GNU/Linux, BSD, and OSX, or grab a development copy from our Subversion repository and live on the bleeding edge. In a true open source by the people for the people nature, we try to work closely with the gaming and open source communities to provide a better overall experience, aiming to create a game environment that is fun and easy to play, while still having elements to master.

Red Eclipse, a fun-filled new take on the casual first person arena shooter, makes even greater strides in its development with the release of version 1.4, codenamed "Elara Edition". The success of "Operation Spitshine" has brought many graphical and gameplay enhancements such as;
- Vanity items and improved colours: dress up and frag with style.
- Visible legs in first person: know where you are kicking and parkouring.
- New and revamped maps: bringing you even more variety.
- Better viewing: level flythroughs, improved third and first person cameras.
- Better menus and other HUD elements: easier to see and read at a glance.
- New weapon: Mines add a new dimension to the existing gameplay.
- New mode: attack and defend in Gauntlet, competing for the most laps.
- Automatic demo recording: for those times you just have to watch it again.
- User Accounts: donate or contribute, and wear the in-game supporter badge.
- Improved weapon balance and gameplay rules, bugs fixed, and much more.
Even more, our community has been slowly, but surely, growing. We would like to thank each and every person who has contributed to or supported the project so far. Without their time and dedication, Red Eclipse would not even be a fraction of what it is today.

Red Eclipse is a futuristic FPS game which focuses on agile gameplay. Unlike in other FPSes were you constantly need to search for health, armor or ammo items; in Red Eclipse you get health regeneration & no armor by defaullt. Good game, but most of the servers seem to just play insta-gib jetpack mode, which is pretty boring.
One of the best free FPS s ive ever played!

I can't believe people still prefer sauerbraten to this. This game is superior in every way. For me this is the successor of sauerbraten. Maybe they should this Cube 3, then more people would play this...
Awesome game! I was playing Urban Terror for more than 1 year....now that with the ubuntu 11.10 i cant really play Urt (got some problems when i close the game) i tried this one...and im very impresed! Better graphics than Urt, walljumping , good sounds , easy map editing....what else do i need?? :D

No matter how much time I spend on this game, it doesn't get old. The "agile gameplay" system also makes for a lot of freedom. Want to climb up that wall? Or run over the other one? Or want to use the Impulse System to quickly rush towards your opponent to hit them with your sword, set them on fire or kick them? Do whatever you want!
Oh, the freedom of movement in this game makes it so enjoyable, both for a quick 5-minute match as for several hours after each other. Add to that the variation of gamemodes and choice of mutators, and there is literally a perfect setting for everyone. A game everybody MUST try.
