Red Alert: A Path Beyond brings the exciting storyline and epic clashes from the classic Westwood Studios game, Command & Conquer: Red Alert to realm of first person shooters, with a twist. We've remained loyal to the style and feel of the 1996 classic, while integrating content from its expansions Counterstrike and The Aftermath with a bit of updated history to add to the mix. Built off the W3D engine Westwood Studios built for classics such as Earth & Beyond and Command & Conquer: Renegade finished up in 2001, we help bring the fight to you as you play out your role as any one of a number of infantry classes participating in team-based combat that often involves land, sea, and air combined-arms clashes that just don't happen in any other game. Oh, and did we mention it's FREE?
Recorded during a public match of RA:APB 2.1.1, staff member Kane000 participates in a combined-arms assault on the Allied base. He begins his assault in a Mammoth tank, flanked by both a friendly Heavy Tank and a Tesla Tank that's been keeping helicopters at bay, with a V2 Rocket Launcher hanging behind to periodically hit for major damage.
A Hind under fire crash-lands next to him while another Mammoth joins the attack, and they move in while successfully knocking out several Allied structures despite taking a loss back home. The attack a success, Kane000 does manage to help finish one final tank and get out safely despite the loss of his Mammoth... only because the Allies had lost base power, bringing certain defenses offline, and because of a little luck.
The EVA narration at ~50 seconds may be hard to follow as the battle rages in each base; first the Allied War factory falls, a C4 explosive charge is placed elsewhere, while the Soviet Helipad comes under attack and the Allied Advanced Power Plant finally dies. Kane000, playing with the HUD and text displays off, does not immediately notice the Power Plant is down and puts a few extra shots into it.
Still processing, ah damn.
It'll take a couple minutes, the original file's around 570mb. Definitely worth the wait though. Actually, it just finished.
haha it finished when you replied.
he was fortunate to get that helicopter
Nice. :D
Nice, the heli movement is rather strange tho ;)
Cool vid'. :)
Speaking of 'To The Core', myself and a few other players believe that this map needs 2 Pillboxes/Flame Towers for each base, just to provide some basic ground-defence.
Maybe add a watch tower (Like on Seamist) near each base, too. I think those towers are really under-used, and should be seen on more maps.
great vid, you guys should upload to youtbe and link to moddb, its far quicker ;)
It's available on our Youtube.com page as well.
