[REC] Shutter is a horror game where you must progress through levels while avoiding the paranormal and solving puzzles. The story will progress as the player goes through the levels. This Game will not only focus on his recordings but even on his story and his life. You take the role of a reporter named Connor, which will be reporting Penny hill a dark hunted asylum. You will be equipped with the latest equipment; animated camera which includes night vision and a shutter effect. Filming every action you take and taking screenshot's of paranormal activity. Game will include feature's like fear, stealth, investigation and much much more.

Health System: The player has a low amount of health, and will die after around 4 hits from an enemy. The player's health will be monitored by the cracks on the camera screen. This means you're camera is damaged and you need to fix it, To Fix it in some levels you will find a Repair box, Use this to fix you're camera cracks. Camera cracks will only disappear when You fix it via an toolbox. If the player dies, he will drop to the ground and the screen will fade to black. The game will then automatically load the last saved game.

Panic System: If something paranormal happens, the player's panic level will increase. Staring at enemies will also cause the panic level to increase. A higher panic level means the player becomes harder to control due to Fear. The player will also occasionally shake when panic levels are high. Fear decrease when a safe area is reached. Also Pills can be taken to decrease panic level.

Inventory System: The player has an inventory to store items such as health packs, Pill, and keys. This means the player can use the items when they choose, rather than forcing them to use them at a specific time.

Movement System: The player will slowly walk and can sprint a little quickly. This means walking is slow enough to easily investigate, and sprinting is fast enough to escape enemies. Stamina will be unlimited.

Camera System: Pressing F will activate Night Vision to make it easier for the player to see in dark areas. Press the right mouse button will make the camera take a picture - sound plays and white HUD fades out. An objective could be to take photos of items.

Save/Load System: Auto save zones will automatically save the game when the player enters them. Resuming game in the menu will automatically load the last auto save.

Investigate System: clicking the mouse button means the player investigates the item. clicking again causes the item to be picked up.

Stealth System: Pressing V will activate stealth system, where the players see where is darker hide from The paranormal.

Zooming System: Pressing R to zoom in and T to zoom out. This will help you check for objects and see things more clearly before going in the way!

Shutter website is now updated

Unfortunately, [REC] Shutter is now stopped in development. (Discontinued)
However, we updated the website and IndieDB one last time.

[REC] Shutter itself didn't get any updates, as I mentioned the game was stopped for a while and it won't be continued. However, I'm going through websites and IndieDB and updating the sites for my games, you can now check the new website for [REC] Shutter along with the new website for Official KGames, many thanks for all your support. Also, now donations are accepted for whoever wishes to support a lonely developer in game making.

"[REC] Shutter is now stopped in development, I apologize and I wish to thank you all for the support and those who supported me and my first game project [REC] Shutter. You can still download the game from the official website and play through the 4-level "demo" and imagine your own ending."

Ok got it and I already have a few problems. First why is the "camera" glued to my eye sockets? The static non-sense is annoying and ruined any sort of atmosphere I might have gotten. Also cameras don't make fricken noise when filming, or are my ears somehow fused to non existent headphones on the camera that is glued to my face? The game is far too dark to see what I am doing even with the greenlight, a gamma setting is seriously needed. The start makes little sense, why was I in a room of black/white pixels with no clear direction of where I was meant to walk? There is nowhere to explain to me what the controls are form the get go, nor any way to custom bind them. The character doesn't walk properly... more like slow steps and faster walking isn't even close to normal. He is far too high to be actually sneaking and if I'd bump into something I want to be able to outrun whatever is chasing me not slow creeping away (same issue I have with fatal frame games). Why doesn't the character have a torch? It's a basic requirement for wandering around in the dark something almost all people who know of this invention would take with them. What is the goal? Exploring? If it's to find evidence of a haunting I'd retreat as soon as I caught the first spectre/monster on camera. And again, why can't I run away from the monster?

The Camera is 'Glued' to the eye socket because you are looking through a camera. Not all Camera do fricken noise when filming, Some do. Btw there is already a gamma setting ingame.

Now, you was in a room setting up your camera turning it on, When you do you start into the asylum, you can't really run in the game. You need to capture any paranormal stuff in the recording, thats the mission of the reporter. How can the character hold a camera and torch in both hands? he got the nightvision why is a torch needed? :). As i said before, the goal is to record the place and capture any paranormal evidence of the haunting, you will retreat as soon as you caught it, but connor wont since there is a storyline hidden behind it.

Anyway thank you for you're openions and crit,

where's the gamma setting because it obviously didn't show itself on the main menu nor within the game. What asylum has meat hooks? You haven't done much research as to what a proper asylum is like have you?
Wait... camera and torch, one in each hand. There are many cameras and most can be used with one hand. also there's pocket torches, and torch helmets so really that lack of reasoning is bad. And if something started attacking and hurting, no idiot would creep away slowly and continue holding a camera - they would drop it if its one of those huge things you carry on your shoulder or carry it with them in their hand if it's a small digital one. Again, they wouldn't be looking through the camera as they'd run for their life.
Needs work, but fundamentals for horror are there. Unfortunately this seems too much of a hobby project, with not nearly enough effort, than an actual marketing game.

You turn gamma on with , + .
All right, You need to chill on the hate, you dont like my game, I Respect that :D. There are already random things on the game that was said by other users, Why he should hold a torch anyway while he have nightvision in the camera? Thats a stupid thing in my openion. I May continue working on this game in the future.

Why woulden't they carry there camera with them while running away? Stop compering the player to you. I Will work on it dont worry, Yet again.. I Never said this game is an 'actual marketing game' and never said i wanted to make lots of money of it

Thanks for your rating of 1 and reviwing,
Cheers and good day to you :)

It's not hate, it's being realistic and critic. My aim is to make game creaters look at their work and not feel false sense of awesomeness when they haven't considered aspects and just throw out a random mish mash of stuff. People can only learn from strong criticism. I think you are awesome for attempting to make something, it's productive and hopefully was a fun and learning thing for you. It does however need some serious work. Don't let my opinions put you down, think of them as a motivational boost.

This game is beautiful, Though the 'walking' seems slowish, it fits perfectly in with the over all world and atmosphere of the game. I honestly cannot complain because the speed is perfect. I'm sure if anyone of us were to go to a asylum that was spooky we would all walk slow. Honestly this man has balls becuase I would sit in a corner for 10 minutes if somethingwas chasing me and leave. So the walking is perfect for those who are complaining about it becuase it fits how a actually person would…

*Random frequent tv static with loud audio (makes no sense on a camera during recording). The very beginning starts you in a room you can't quite see and no determinable direction how to begin. *Ridiculously slow movement with no run option. Since you can't fight back, you can't even run away when attacked. *There is little in the way of exploration. Linear and far too dark. *No gamma setting. No torch. Just a lot of black corners and corridors. *No control options. Not even a place to see what…
