It will be defenitely a fun game in future, but the latest alpha isn't such a fun. Every action you have to type into the console. There is no menue yet. You can see this, when you watch the video. So you first have to learn the commands, to be able to do things like building robots or even registering your key ingame.

It's a Pre-Alpha.

Yes true. The console is more powerful than the grid. The next build will have the grid be equally as powerful. The final goal is that you can program your bots, fully through console, and fully through grid hex tiles. And even switch mid commands.

The console though, lets us get you features more faster. So from time to time, the console might get a feature before the grid.

My problem wit the console programming is, that I don't know where to find the tilt key for opening the console on a european keyboard. I read that its a key combination. I tried different solutions. It worked once but I don't know how I did it. It would be nice if you sign the console opening key to a key on the keyboard which is equal on all keyboard layouts.

It is pronounced "tilde" and it is the '~" key. It is a standard key used for opening consoles in many classic FPS's.

Usually this key is present directly before the '1' key on most keyboards and directly under the 'esc' key.

Nope, my layout is like this:

The ~ key is reached on my keyboard with Alt Gr and +. But somehow it doesn't work. I also tried the key under Esc. It's ^ . No reaction.

That's not a complaint against the developer. It's just an info for potential customers, that they know what the buy at the moment.

Thanks, the console is our cheaper-and-faster-way-to-get-to-market system. And as an added benefit, makes you look badass programming your bots.

This is crazy, I had no idea, there would be interest in the $30 version. And let me be very clear, the Desura game is the FULL game, EVERYTHING. The $30 is our VIP access to everything we are doing, even horrible experiments that will never see the day of light. But hey, if you guys are interested in participating, we are all for it.

The game was meant to be at $20 to actually be monetizable, but we thought lets just make it $10, we want people to afford the risk, while it gets better. Little did we know. Hehe.

But again, just PM us and we'll get you on the VIP threads and everything we are doing over there. Bring your math and physics skills with you. PM asap so we can give it to you at no cost, we'll update the description so players don't feel misleaded.

This is awesome, thanks guys for the support.

First of all, thanks for your support.
About your concerns and others expressed, as rozgo wrote on a previous reply: "You are getting the same game, but from a different perspective".
Now what does it means?
- You are getting updates, this version will be updated when the updates are fully tested and approved, many of the stuff we're doing at the site are experimental so there is a chance they won't be on the final game.
- The main difference with the site's version is that we're making the game along with the contributions of the members, this also mean our members are getting unstable builds, in fact often the versions are more unstable than we'll like :) but is great to have their support and feedback.

If you are impatient and would like to test the buggy versions and help us shape the game, then contact us, we'll be happy to have skilled players aboard.

It is the weekend, please give the developers a bit of time to handle this for you. It might be possible to do an upgrade for you or at the very least issue you a refund.

I had no idea people would be interested in VIP access to our experimental stuff. But if you have mad skills in physics and math and can help us shape the game. Come on board. PM for a code to get full access to VIP. The more skillful people we have helping in VIP the better. We just can't get much help from players that don't understand PID controllers, Inverse Kinematics and complicated stuff like that. So Desura is the FULL game without the hassle.

You bought the full version with your 8 euro purchase, when the game is finished you won't have to buy the 30$ version. The 30$ version give you the chance to influence the development because you get to share your thoughts directly with the devs, you get the VIP access in their forum and everything optional that will come out in the rawbots universe like iOS/android software and things like that you may not be interested in, but to be clear: YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY THE GAME AGAIN! THIS IS A PRE- ALPHA THAT GRANTS YOU THE ACCESS TO THE FINAL RELEASE.

As far as I understand it, this IS a full version, you'll just get the updates a bit later than the people who pay 30$

I suppose they get to play the indev stuff, which would be closest to the Minecraft pre-release versions. And the people who buy it here get all the new features when a version has been polished up enough.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still trying to grasp it myself xD

Forbidlich Jan 19 2013, 7:12am replied:

You have a good grasp on it the 30 gets unstable new content but it gets new content, while this is just a stable build. But my issue is if i want a stable build i buy a full game not funding and no where does it say that you wont get the lastest updates instead i found out by going to their website to see a 30 dollar verison, so i would have to pay 10 then 30 so this is a rip off (war z style) and the messed up part i cant acesss certain forum items because i dont have the vip 30 dollar one WHO DOES THIS

Ouch, so much hate, I was sleeping. Did we really F'd up that much, "rip off war z style" much? Man leave that for when I sleep for 24 hours. We'll give you full VIP access if you PM me.

Now seriously, the more hardcore physics and math guys we get on VIP the better, just PM us.

So for the 8 Bucks here you only get ONE version and no further updates? That is indeed a bit sucky. Well, guess thats why they didn't put it in the alphafunding category.

nharan81 Jan 19 2013, 12:02pm replied:

Uhh, not true. You get updates but of stable builds. I have purchased the $30 version and as far as I know, the next stable release you guys will get is with full multiplayer functionality. I think this should be explained to Desura people here because I personally wanted all updates immediately rather than wait for them, so I bought it for $30.

Forbidlich Jan 19 2013, 7:34am replied:

no it updates but only when a stable verison is created when and how long could be months on months could be weeks but i pay for funding to get the lastest build stable or not

If you feel like you got jipped because the devs failed to explain something, then tell them about it. Post on the forums, email them, etcetera. They're reasonable guys, they're not trying to rob you, they're just asking for support, and if you feel like you weren't properly informed, I'm sure they'll be as upset about it as you are.

I see where ur coming from i emailed them and explained i would like my money back for not properly havingg it explained to me, it just bugs me that the option for the 30 dollar is not on here but the game looks promising and alot of fun and for all i am not knocking the game its nice and will be fun but im not going to be led by false info again. this is no form or fashion knocking the developers or their game, just a simple refund is all i asked.

nharan81 Jan 19 2013, 12:09pm replied:

You will certainly get your refund, these guys are on a different timezone than you and it is the weekend. About $500k has already been spent on development of personal developer funds (their own money), they wouldn't rip you off for $10 or any amount. That is not what they're about. It is good you mention this confusion because it shows that perhaps the devs need to put the $30 version up here as well.

Incredible robot sim. The game is already amazing in this under-developed state, and it will only get better. What really boggles my mind is the versatility of the parts. You want to build a lunar lander that can travel through space from planet to planet? I did that yesterday. Want to make a dragonfly that actually flies? Go ahead and beat me to it. If you like robotics, design, maybe a little architecture, or just like awesome robots fighting, building, exploring, mining, even terraforming, the…

This is not a game at all. At best it is a prototype. It is FAR from even being close to being ready. This should be free or not listed at all. it looks nice graphically and it is easy to see it holds alot of promise. But this needs ALOT of work. At the moment it is a waste of money to pay for something with so little substance. Even if the dev means well. Work on it and make a kickstarter or something. Then give this as a bonus perk to doners.
