id Software's Rage combines first-person shooting, vehicular action, and "open but directed" exploration in a post-apocalyptic world, to tell the story of Earth's wretched civilization after a cataclysmic meteor strike. Militaristic authority figures, freedom-fighting rebels, criminal raiders, and twisted mutants battle each other for control of the barren wasteland Earth has become. This is the first game to feature the new id Tech 5 engine.

The system requirements for id Software's shooter revealed.

Curious to know what kind of hardware you'll need to run Rage? id Software's post-apocalyptic shooter is set to be released on October 4 in North America, and the official hardware requirements are now out in the open. This will be the first game released using id's Tech 5 technology, and it should be very interesting to see how it performs out in the real world.

Considering id Software's history of setting new industry standards for visual quality with past titles like Doom 3 and Quake, this might be a game worth upgrading for. How do you stack up to the requirements?

Installing Rage is not fun, but everything else is. I haven't seen a single drop in the framerate. it runs like a champ.

it actually runs very well on mid-low end hardware... I run it at 1280x800 on Intel HD graphics ("3000" on core i7), and it looks amazing at 30 frames per second. Very well optimized for lowish-end systems, and freaking gorgeous.
though i must say a fast processor is a must...
