Welcome to the Arena, where high-ranking warriors are transformed into spineless mush. Abandoning every ounce of common sense and any trace of doubt, you lunge onto a stage of harrowing landscapes and veiled abysses. Your new environment rejects you with lava pits and atmospheric hazards as legions of foes surround you, testing the gut reaction that brought you here in the first place. Your new mantra: Fight or be finished.
Introducing - "Relativity" a Quake 3 deathmatch map. Escher's Relativity envisioned as a quake map - has 3 ground planes. Try it, you'll like it...if you don't get ill that is. NOTE: you will have to rename this file relativity.pk3. while you can upload zip files this system apparently doesnt recognize pk3's, which are zip files.

This is mc Esher-tastic!
o.O
reminds me of Serious Sam SE :D
awesome job! I think ballmen copied off of you D: lol
nice mapping, gotta be hard to do...
Thanks much.
Truly the hardest part of the mapping (besides learning the radiant curve mesh I never used before...) was filling in the areas outside the visible print. The entire work is unfinished tho...this map is a cheat - in the final vision you can see simultaneously all players on all groundplanes. This map has 3 copies rotated so each plane is the default quake "floor" plane. Stepping on any sky takes you to the new groundplane dictated by that sky. I envisioned something more like the Escher scene in Labyrinth with the goblin king walking around plane edges. Still trying to wrap my thoughts around the physics mod that would allow for 3 groundplanes on 1 map.
I can't get the map to work (mind you, one reason is that I've never added a map to Quake 3 manually before, normally they came with the mod I downloaded). I add it into the baseq3 folder, and but do I change just the name (so the file is relativity.pk3.zip) or do I have to edit the extension?
To load this map - place the file in baseq3 and change ".zip" to ".pk3" (i.e. filename should be "relativity.pk3") then follow the usual quake 3 procedure to load a map from a pk3...
pk3 are zip files but the system does not seem to allow them to be uploaded - at least I could not get it to work.
The map is truly a masterpiece, a masterpiece like the very one that inspired it's creation. Mind you, but perhaps making the map a bit larger to allow better passage, and adding a file in the format of .arena in the scripts. This should make it a lot more accessible for others
