Do you remember the survival horror genre in 90s? The atmosphere? The fear? Last summer i’ve started working on my first game and now i want to share with you this experience.

Project Night is a survival horror old style, inspired by classic horror videogame from 90's.
After 2+ years the game is ready to the release.
Frame rate will be available at about 30/60/80-90 fps (depends from pc config).
The game will be released on Steam, on next January 22, 2015.
It will be availabe for Windows, Mac and Linux system.

The first several minutes are completely directionless and feel like a cheaply done Slender clone. Am I missing something? I like the lighting and the opening setting with the car and eerie camera has promise, but beyond that it feels like walking in the woods aimlessly until a random crappy monster kills you.

Yeah, i understand your point of view. ;)
It looks that is completely directionless, but it's not true.
Initially there's some puppets (or something like that, near the trees) with an arm...
If you look, in the distance, there's some small lights... if you follow this signs, you'll discover a lot of things. :D
Anyway thanks for the feedback, because i can change something in the alpha build, if other users report this "directionless".

If monster kills you easily try to run away (shoot is not always the right way), because when you're enough far from them they stop to follow you.
Be careful to the flying monster, it's near impossibile to run away from him.
Keep calm and shoot when he's perfectly in your sight. ;)

I've noticed very little of this game on search engines and youtube. It would be good if you gave keys to people like THG Plays (The Honest Gamer), Yamimash, pewdiepie, and various other let's players to really get your game heard in the community.
It seems a very promising concept, it has been too long since the days of the original SIlent Hills and Resident Evils, and it deserves to be known.

I might be buying the alpha version but there are some questions I'd like to ask first.
1.: How far is the game yet? I know you are working on the alpha build but how much of the game is done yet (like assets, levels and stuff)?

Thanks for interesting about my project:

1: The game is still under development (it's really hard to say how far is, depends from many aspects). For example i would like reach enough money and buying the Unity Engine PRO, at 1500$. This could give me the opportunity to get a better graphics, similar to current gen. Or i would like get money and pay some developers for get a better game under several aspects (and i'm also contacting some software house for ask a support). Teorically, i'm at 55-60%, but this could be variable for the previously reasons.
I've builded this version with two main areas (a forest and a city) with buildings and areas to explore.
There's no real "levels", it's similar to a Silent Hill or Resident Evil style. You can get items (like keys, medikits, ammo), shoot to entities, explore rooms and similar things.
Obviously in trailers there's only a part of the experience. I've cut the scary moments and several events because i don't want spoiler too much about the game.
I'm currently testing some ideas and new areas, that is not included in this alpha build.

2: This is my first game and software. I got diploma in computer science and graduate in Rome, like writer for cinema and tv.
So if you like what you've seen in screenshots and videos, i'm sure you'll enjoy this alpha build. If you want a full game, complete under every aspects, maybe you'll prefer wait it. ;)

Too many half baked games touting to be version >1.0 that don't even start up can be found on IndieDB. It is really nice to find an very early alpha which is stable and runs very well.
Keep in mind the game is still very early in dev. Still the atmosphere is great; very tense. The controls are like a 90s survival horror, which I like but some people may not.
I really like this game and looking forward to seeing it grow.
