Inspired by the 8 and 16-bit metroidvania / Zelda and specially the Monster World series, Project Explorer (working title) is a procedurally-generated platformer with RPG elements. It's in development since september/2012 and has seen some good progress since then. It will feature different environments, structures like castles, dungeons and more, quests and NPCs, all with a big random world to be explored by adventurers who enjoy old school platform games.

Some implemented features! Some of the main menu and load screens, gold (there's a small coin, big coin and bag of gold), visual effects (hit effect and level up), as well as new and updated sound effects. Check the new gameplay video!

Now on to finish developing the save and load character system!

yeah, so fai I've just pixeled the nature creatures, but we'll have skeletons, zombies and really weird ones coming along :)

Yes to keys. About the puzzles it depends on how you see it. The player will obtain different abilities which will grant him access to certain previously innacessible areas (metroidvania?). More practical puzzles are also possible.
