Dinosaurs have been unleashed on an old military controlled island due to an experiment gone awry. A team of mercenaries have been dispatched to contain the threat.
Primal Carnage is a multiplayer first person shooter where players must work as a team to complete game mode dependent objectives. In Primal Carnage, you can play as one of two factions: dinosaurs or humans. Both are filled with special unique classes and abilities that complement and contrast each other.

We've been promising you an update for a long time, and here it is! The Primal Carnage team is hard at work and making more progress than we ever have before - and we're really excited with how much closer Primal Carnage is to becoming a reality.

After much consideration, we have decided to use the Unreal Development Kit to finish Primal Carnage - not a decision that was made lightly. But, in the end, the UDK was the clear choice to help us finish this game to the highest quality and deliver it to you; the fans.

The benefits of the UDK are enormous. Obviously, the fact that the engine is built for FPS games is a huge advantage. When you take into account Speedtree integration, XBox and PS3 compatability, strong support, many developers that know it inside-out and great AAA software it's easy to see why the UDK is the perfect choice for Primal Carnage.

Did you say "where's the proof?". Well, that's the reason we had to be so top secret about this - we couldn't show you anything until we're ready to replace ALL our media. That's right, all of what you've seen so far is going in the archive. So, without further ado, here's what you can expect from Primal Carnage!

Commando - First Person

T-Rex at the walls of the Base Camp

Commando

T-Rex Close Up

T-Rex VS Spino

Pretty nice, right? We have more, and as a thank you to our ever-so-patient fans - we would also like to show you this first video. Everything you're seeing is straight from the UDK!

Let us know what you think! We'll be answering all your questions as best we can and (yes, you can get excited) we'll be showcasing our first actual gameplay video on November 1st! There are heaps of other tasty treats lined up as well so, as always, keep checking the forums - we love to hear what you have to say!

It's still a game. These guys are not making real life dinosaur simulators...

I actually think these screens look more promising than the Unigine ones. Also the toolset of Unigine looked so old and not user friendly, for a "new" engine.

Good luck guys, I'm still waiting for that other game "Lightspire"...

You can see, this is actually starting to become a game now, rather than just a series of tech demos. I commend your decision to switch to UDK!

To be honest, i'm disappointed and let down.
As a Linux Gamer I had high hopes for this game.
And in switching to UDK, those hopes were demolished.
I hope it was worth it.

I apologies to you and the linux fans, however as I have mentioned trying to make this game on unigine was a lot harder for us due to being a independent team with lack of programmers and staff. Using the UDk has been a good switch for this project due to the fact that we have been able to get gameplay working, mulit-console etc. If we can find a way to release this on linux later in the months using UDK then we will.

Good to see the move to UDK, known engine, with plenty of support from the community pool. Screenshots look great, video is nicely done. Glad to see that scene that was worked on extensively by the guys finally make it to release. Nice work all round. (Website needs a lot of updating with the recent releases of classes as well guys.)

Well I'm disagree a lot with the changue of engine. I think your reasons are very clear (console focus).

I'm sorry but I've seen enough games on PC limitated because of the old hardware and the crappy interface of consoles. And goodbye Linux.

Untracking. Good luck anyway.

Wow! Stunning renders here.

The image compositing here is top-notch, almost photo-realistic.

As for the video, I think the video editing is on par too. Is it possible to see the real-time version or video break down?

Just curious, when did UDK get tessellation?
