Postal² is a 2003 computer game by Running With Scissors (RWS). It is a sequel to the 1997 game Postal. Both are intentionally highly controversial due to high levels of violence and stereotyping. Unlike its predecessor, Postal² is a first-person shooter based on the Unreal Graphics Engine.

The player takes on the role of 'The Postal Dude' (all evidence given in-game indicates that the character's full legal name actually is "The Postal Dude, Jr.": his father's tombstone reads "T. Dude Sr."; characters constantly call him "Mr. The Dude" and a package for him is addressed to "Postal Dude"), a tall thin man with a goatee, sunglasses, a blue alien t-shirt, and a long black leather coat. The Postal Dude also wears a Happy Smiley pin on his right lapel and a cross pin on his left one. 'The Postal Dude' lives in a trailer park with his nagging wife (only identified in the credits as 'Postal Dude's Bitch') in the mining town of Paradise, Arizona.

The game levels are split into days of the week starting Monday and finishing Friday. At the beginning of each day, Dude is given several tasks to accomplish, such as 'Get milk', 'Confess sins', and other seemingly mundane tasks. The purpose of the game is to finish all of the tasks throughout the week, although the game encourages the player to play in any way he wishes, be it as civilly or as chaotically as possible. There are unique consequences to whichever path is chosen.

Dude must put up with being flipped the bird, mugged, attacked by protesters, put upon by an obnoxious convenience store owner/terrorist and his patrons who cut before Dude in the "money-line", plus an annoying marching band, a murderous toy mascot named Krotchy, the police and SWAT team, the ATF and the National Guard, a religious cult, savage butchers, psycho Taliban terrorists, and Gary Coleman, among many other things.

Now is the time for the world to see “POSTAL” and here are my reasons why: After the September 11th attacks, our world went through some dramatic changes. We have wars and terror in Afghanistan, Israel, Lebanon, Iraq and various states in Africa. The USA and Europe are scared to loose the leadership of the planet to China and India. Muslim fanatics and fundamentalists are gaining enough power to destroy our security and freedom.

The American and European people are heavily swayed by the mass media that is supporting the USA strategy of resolving these threats through war. We have quickly developed an innate self-censorship in order to survive this crazed and fragile state of existence. People are now afraid to speak their mind for fear of repercussions. If Bin Laden is a crazed fanatic, mass murderer, are we to assume that George Bush is a wonderful leader? If Moslems are perceived as terrorists, then are all Christians and Jews doing the right thing?
The world is in need of a film that is tougher in it's humorous mockery of the globe than "SOUTH PARK". The audience is ready to approach this type of satire with live actors rather than cartoons. "POSTAL" will not accept any form of censorship.

Our present political situation is intolerable. We have deranged religious fanatics on one hand and lobbyists from the oil and weapon industries on the other hand. Both sides are actively working at destroying the planet. This world is slowly dying due to global warming and pollution caused by man’s corporate greed and stupidity. If intelligent people do not stop this madness, then our grandchildren will not experience life.

"POSTAL" will insult all cultures, religions, political groups and leaders. No one will be spared. The film is intended to provoke thought, laughter and open debate. Our world is out of balance and "POSTAL" will reflect just how fucked up we are.

I see myself as a member of the world community. I have no religious affiliation. Religion has often been a catalyst for the many crimes and wars throughout history. Religion allows people the opportunity to blame their actions on a higher source. We live in a world that is sensitive to people's religious beliefs. How ironic that non-religious groups fail to receive the same level of sensitivity from the establishment.

I agree with Salman Rushdie who said a few months ago in an interview something to the affect that we don't want to hurt your feelings because you are religious.… who thinks about the daily insults non-religious people are getting? How can the President of the United States think, that Adam and Eve were created by God, but Darwin is bullshit? How can they teach this in certain American states? This is an insult to everyone with an IQ over 100!

Apart from the firemen and rescuers of 911, how about the victims of the September 11th attacks that are now being labelled as heroes? I say that they were not heroes at all. They died in a terrorist attack. They were normal people and did nothing heroic but dying an unfortunate death.

Since September 11th, more than ONE MILLION AFRICANS, JEWS and ARABS have died in terrorist's attacks, civil wars and wars. Their lives and deaths were not featured by the mass media. Does this mean that their lives had less value than the life of a NY stockbroker dying in the World Trade Centre?

It's time to wake up!
May "POSTAL" shock, stir, offend and entertain you!

sleepless nights and hard work and a commitment and alot of complains is what u exspect to take on before u even bother starting a mod.

i mean damn

maybe u should look back too desert combat for bf1942 they where under alot more stress then these modders are

cause they had like 4 times more supporters complaining.

so suck it up and get over it.

Alien_Firefox, I see you're not working on a mod, so obviously you don't realise how long it takes to make one, and the processes of making one.

You say this is taking longer to make than postal 2 did (even though it hasn't), well that's because they got payed for it and it was their job, they were also trained professionals who knew what they were doing. For us we are doing it in or free time for the fans, we also didn't know alot about game modding when starting this, it has all been a big learning experience.

Also with most mods, not even just Postal 2 ones, they never even get released, so at least we are.

You say the land of the dead zombies are better than Postal 2's, well that's because Postal 2 didn't have zombies. AW did however and we aren't even using those, we have coded our own.

I also thought Land of the Dead was shit.

I really don't care if you don't like our mod or not, because I like it, and know other people who do to.

...Right, now that's sorted, here's some Postal news:

Quote:It has been formally announced that the next milestone in the POSTAL saga is already in development. The game, under the working title, POSTAL 3: Catharsis and is headed directly down the throat of the XBox 360 and the PC. More details on what happens to a complex, multi-dimensional individual like The Dude after he has razed Paradise and left it a (radioactive) parking lot.

Dear Alien_Firefox,

I suggest your find something else to do with your life other than worry a release date. In all honesty, don't you have anything better to do? This team is people from around the world, with outside lives, other interests and truthfully our time is NOT mainly focused on this mod. Although that would be a lie, some members have had sleepless nights to get this mod done and this is what they get, this is what they deserve? Petty complaints about a pushed back release date?

We are undergoing major and minor bug testing, so I leave you with this:

Wait patiently, and realize that there are other things to do to pass the time, get a clue, fuck face.

Sincerely,

James
