It is the year 2287, one of the first colony ships sent out by Earth arrives at the planet Maria, in the Epsilon Indi Star System. During its landing sequence, something appears in front of the massive ship that causes it to lose control and crash into the planet. Some of the colonists survive in lifeboats, but what they find is an unforgiving land filled with creatures ready to outlast the visitors from Earth. Now the survivors must explore, gather, build, create, fight, and ultimately, conquer the land.

Hey everyone, it's been a while since we've updated here. We've just been way too busy getting to the current build, which is now at a0.72. A lot of new features have been added since the last update, you can read up on them here: Planetexplorers.pathea.net The game development is going pretty well, we've had some technical hurdles, but so far, we've been able to overcome them.

Demo links:

PC: Indiedb.com
Mac: Indiedb.com
Linux: Indiedb.com

The demo features the grassland area in the story mode and the entire build mode. For people that has trouble running the game, make sure that your graphics drivers are up to date. If that doesn't help, change the opencl calculation option from the gpu to cpu.

If you like the demo, you can get the full alpha version of the game by preordering on our website: Planetexplorers.pathea.net We plan to release on Steam Early Access probably late next month, I'll have more on that next week.

Also, check out some of the cool new creations made by other Planet Explorers players here: Isoplanetexplorer.com

I cut down some trees, dug some holes, saw a giant fish in the sea so I went swimming to kill it. Then the game crashed. I really like what I see so far!

Unity is just an engine, like Unreal, Source, etc. What's to hate about an engine... especially when the biggest part of Planet Explorers (the volumetric terrain) is not even part of that engine (and an awesome piece of work!)

Maybe you think "Unity game" = "Web game", but no, Unity also builds standalone for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS.

I really hope i'm not overlooking things, but i'm not seeing a way to change the gender. Has it not been implemented yet in v0.2?

Female will be in v0.3. Something broke with her rig in v0.2 so we had to take her out.

Somehow this reminds me of "Entropia Universe", will this be like an offline version of it or could it evolve into a new "planet" for "EU" like Arcadia?

We do have stuff like going to other planets on paper...only on paper though. But the universe we're setting up in PE is a pretty realistic one of the relatively near future, so we'll probably want to explore more of it if this game's successful.
