It is the year 2287, one of the first colony ships sent out by Earth arrives at the planet Maria, in the Epsilon Indi Star System. During its landing sequence, something appears in front of the massive ship that causes it to lose control and crash into the planet. Some of the colonists survive in lifeboats, but what they find is an unforgiving land filled with creatures ready to outlast the visitors from Earth. Now the survivors must explore, gather, build, create, fight, and ultimately, conquer the land.

3 comments by PlanetExplorer on Nov 5th, 2014

Hi everyone, hope you still remember the World Editor we post a couple weeks ago.

Today, we'll show you more details about it with a video. To remind you, World Editor is one of the major things we're working on for a0.9. It is a program that enables you to launch and edit a world map in the editor, or import maps from other editors such as World Machine. The main tools we're going to introduce today are different brushes, auxiliary tools and the artifact, a kind of voxel brush that players can generate and share.

One thing that we haven't finished is that editor UI, so there are lots of empty icons, that will be fixed later. We're still incorporating the Story and Mission editors into the world editor, so we'll show those later.

every time i play adventure or build mode i spawn 5-10 meters up in the air, then fall to my death. When I play story mode, I spawn out of the map area under water and drown.

ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 series, but why should that affect where I spawn?

Ah, we're having problems with the ATI 4000 series for the last 2-3 builds. Basically, the opencl isn't working correctly so the terrain's not being generated. We're working on that. :)

alright, is there some way for me to fix it on my end, or should I just wait for the next release?

I got a control issue: once the player character is free to go (after the initial chat), it behaves like the A and W keys are pressed simultaneously, i. e. just runs sideways to the left. Maybe this is somehow related to me having two joysticks in the system... However, with both devices disconnected the same thing happens. I cannot stop the character at all.
As for the game, it looks very promising (albeit not a firsthand experience just yet). Always wished for a game like this... From the Wilderness and Robinson's Requiem onwards.

Mine is also doing this. I have removed all joysticks and deleted the drivers. Even changed keyboards to try and rule that out. Doesn't seem to make a difference. With mine, if I press back and right (s + d) the character will stop.

I could stop the character this way only after reassigning movement keys from WASD to the cursors (otherwise the character starts running backwards and to the right with the S+D depressed). This didn't help the problem much however, and what's more, the WASD keys are still can be used to control the character the way they did before the reassignment. The middle mouse button doesn't seem to be doing anything. So, probably it's some autorunning bug.

No, it's not a MMO. Single player with multiplayer options.
