It is the year 2287, one of the first colony ships sent out by Earth arrives at the planet Maria, in the Epsilon Indi Star System. During its landing sequence, something appears in front of the massive ship that causes it to lose control and crash into the planet. Some of the colonists survive in lifeboats, but what they find is an unforgiving land filled with creatures ready to outlast the visitors from Earth. Now the survivors must explore, gather, build, create, fight, and ultimately, conquer the land.

I just love the look of these animals!
Though, can any of them be found in Alpha 0.1?

Half of them can be, all of them will be in by A0.3.

But did not find anything when I tried the Alpha...
Only some tress and other plants (and the crash-site of course...), D:>

I've been having the same issue. Zero critters in my game.

Same question Insolent, did the terrain render for you?

It didn't the first time I loaded up the game, so I updated my drivers and it successfully loaded next time. It has sporadically failed to render since that time, though.

At no point have I seen animals, but I haven't updated to Av0.2 yet. I'll do that later today.

Wait...what? Did the terrain render for you? We do have a bug where animals fail to render, but it shouldn't happen very often and it's fixed for Av0.2.

They look awesome! I like that they are inspired partly by real animals of the past, it gives the game a nice feeling. Also, thank you for including the size of man for comparison. It's good that not all animals are gigantic, it makes the really big ones special.

Wow, so much creativity and talent showcased here! I love the scale and look of these things.

I particularly enjoy the Marihare. Can I have one as a pet, please? :D

That's on paper right now. We'll see.

Whenever I asked my parents if we could have a pet and they said "We'll see," they really meant "No, but we don't want you to make a scene." Is that what you're doing here?! Because I'll make a scene preemptively!

;D

No, pets have been a part of our plan for a while...I'm just still trying to think of a creative way to do them.

I think it is really sweet, but i think too many things have three pairs of legs lol

If you consider the wild life on Earth, don't you think to many animals have four legs then? xD

Right you are! On this particular planet, evolution favored animals with six legs early on.

Oh wow, now if only you could climb them like in Shadow of the Colossus or Dragon's Dogma!

That might be asking for too much right now, our budget doesn't even register when compared with these games'. :)

Hm. I didn't think the budget would factor in too much for a feature like that. I guess it'd add to the animation budget.

Mostly to the programming budget, actually. The collision will have to be completely redone and made specific for the game, same with AI and pathfinding.

Description

Here are the current grassland animals to help people identify them until we get a pictionary up in game. There are a few that won't be in until alpha build 0.3.
