Enemies claw at you, gnashing their teeth or calling forth dark, demonic magics; at least one thing is certain: you will not go quietly, you will not die alone. Path of Exile is a gritty, new Action Role Playing Game from New Zealand based studio, Grinding Gear Games. Path of Exile combines bone-shattering, monster-slaying action with in-depth character customization.
Players can pick from six playable character classes, which each focus on either one or two core attributes: Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence.
Active skills are gained in the form of levelable gems and passive skills are chosen from a huge, shared skill tree with over 1300 nodes.
Randomly generated items and world areas guarantee that no journey is the same; and fast-paced PvP action lets you cooperate with, or conquer, players from all over the world. Path of Exile is completely free and never "Pay-to-Win".

Grinding Gear Games announced today that the Open Beta for the free action role-playing game (RPG) Path of Exile is now live. Players may now experience Act 3 of the Path of Exile story, where they can explore abandoned docks, markets, temples and sewers in the ruined city of Sarn to uncover the dark truth of their exile. The company also stressed there will be no further character wipes after the Open Beta launch.
The highly anticipated game has already raised over USD$2.36 million in crowd-funded support, with those supporters gaining early access in the earlier closed beta, as well as some exclusive items.
"We've had amazing support from our community throughout development," said Chris Wilson, producer for Grinding Gear Games. "Their belief in our vision is making is possible to deliver a great game."
Path of Exile was recently named "Players' Choice Best Upcoming Game" by IndieDB. Over 78,000 readers voted in the awards. Massively says of the game, "[Path of Exile] is a great package. It's a F2P action RPG that holds up well to its competitors, and in many cases, pushes beyond my expectations."
Path of Exile is a PC online action role-playing game set in a dark fantasy world. Featuring ethical microtransactions, the game is free-to-play, but not pay-to-win. Playing as one of six character classes, players find themselves banished for their past misdeeds to the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast. There, they will encounter hundreds of species of opponents laden with loot and mysterious artifacts as they explore the abandoned continent.

How did this not get mentioned on the top 100 games. Wow people have no clue what makes a good arpg...
This looks like what Diablo 3 should have been, and better.

I'm usually not into games like this;I wasn't impressed with Diablo 3 when it came out. Even when I'd seen my brother playing it, I wasn't surprised to see how unappealing the game looked to me, and I'd much rather play Skyrim or ChronoTrigger. Be that as it may, this is making me change my opinion on games of this style and genre. I've only seen a bit of one of the gameplay videos, and for some reason it looks to me like it's much better than Diablo 3. My interest in it is increased by the fact that it's free and not pay to win, and I'll definitely give this a try when it's released

This game is great
The REAL Diablo 3.
Brilliant game, with a brilliant community and a brilliant development team. I was never even a hardcore ARPG player before this, but the moment I picked up this game I got hooked and have not looked back since. This will be the hottest thing to hit the gaming scene next year. Give yourself an early Christmas present and join in on the fun in beta. You won't regret it.
