Description
NOTE: BETA 5 for the PC is now free to EVERYONE! These betas are more like demos of the full game (which is available on Desura). Enjoy! --- This is the fourth beta release for Paranormal. Paranormal is a game where you play the role of a person with a camera inside a haunted house. As you play, you'll experience a truly unique haunting experience. No two hauntings are the same. ------ BETA 4 has some issues. THIS IS NOT A FINISHED PRODUCT! I'm releasing this for testing purposes. I will add more to future beta versions. The first floor of the house is nearly complete, and the second floor is also nearly complete. Changelog and more can be found in the description. To everyone having crashing issues: I'm updating the game to a newer version of UDK, so hopefully the crashing issues will be resolved for the final version of the game!

BETA 4 Changelog:
Added new screenspace Material camera shader effect (helps make the game look like it's seen through the lens of a camera).
Fixed the sleep function and animation.
Disabled double jumping and dodging.
Added a fully voiced loading screen that gives background on the player, and shows the controls.
Added a journal entry from the house's previous owner. Find it if you can.
Fixed the Ouija Board and added a new scare with it.
Added a new scare in the bathroom.
Fixed hallway scare.
Increased frequency of some scares, while decreasing certain others.
Beta 4 Current Issues:
The new camera screen effect makes reading trophy titles difficult. Will be fixed in future versions.
Some stock UDK UI elements are still present, specifically a player list and round start 'menu' when starting the game.
To everyone having crashing issues: I'm updating the game to a newer version of UDK, so hopefully the crashing issues will be resolved for the final version of the game!
Side-Story:
I almost lost ALL the files to the project due to a corrupt UPK file. While I was saving, my power went out and corrupted a vital file that was nearly irreplaceable. I managed to salvage it slightly, but the side-effect is me not being able to edit it anymore. So future updates to previous content will be more difficult and stressful, but not impossible.

Do I have to donate to play the demo cause when i dl it it says insufficient permission
After the intro movie (the character talks about getting a camera) the game goes white and says that the program as stopped working and quits. Running on Win7 64bit.

Hi Matt. I downloaded the game but when ever I try and open it for further installing a message pops up and says " this version of crossover is expired"...Help! :(
Every time I try to download, it finishes. I open up the file and it only opens TextEdit (MacBook version of Windows Notepad/Wordpad). Help?!
Everytime I download the beta 4 and click on the My game long name it doesn't work, how do I make it work?

I'm having real trouble downloading an opening the beta 4, is it because i'm on a mac? I see that it says it can be run on mac but the downloaded file is always just a huge document of codes, the game isn't actually there :/ Does anyone know how to help?

You downloaded an EXE. It's a windows installer. The Mac version is not part of the open beta yet.

I need help, i downloaded and installed everything just fine, and when i run Paranormal, the Paranormal screen that pops up in the middle of your screen just sits there for a bit, and then it says it quits responding... Im on Windows Vista and its a pretty good computer to run games on.

Unreal Engine requires Shader Model 3. If you bought a computer in the past 3 years, it has shader model 3. Integrated graphics chips on laptops and desktops are not supported, however.

I love it! i had a few problems running the game (i had to delete al the .bik files like one of the comments said) but i finally got it to work.
Also, i have an important question, have you fully thought how the full game will be or are you open for suggestions?

so this works for both mac and PC?
How do you launch this? I downloaded it, ran the EXE and it placed a bunch of folders in their spots, but there's no application to launch it. There's no start shortcuts or desktop shortcuts either, I am thoroughly confused.

I JUST CAN'T PLAY IT ! When I try to, it crashes saying "BUILT WITH UDK has stopped working" and there's nothing I can do. I've purchased the game and I want to play it. Please help me !

Hey man can you help me out? When I download this it's just an installer for UDK. Do I need to install that to get the game? Because it wont seem to let me install it. When I try it just comes up with the UDK screen n stays on that screen for ages n I have to press ctrl alt n delete to close the program :-(
