Hands up who thought we were dead? Well shame on you. We have just been busy! If you keep track of the forums you can get the latest info on whats going on, in which case you would already know that Berserk has been working away on... ODRadiant! Now whats so special about ODRad? Well, for a start its a cleaner, better version of Rad than you can get your hands on anyway, which is always a nice bonus, but the best thing is its designed to work with OverDose, its media and its files easily with no hassle. The best thing however is it fully supports... LIGHTING AND SHADOWING. Now, I cant tell you how great that is, you should know. You can fully light and shadow your level, in real time, in the editor... Fantastic stuff I'm sure you'll agree. Stop by the forums and cheer on Serk for doing such an amazing thing! In the mean time, keep checking those forums thats where all the news happens!
This is on the quake 2 engine!? I need to go dig out my copy! This is amazing! You guys are wizards!
No need for legit Quake 2 copy, Quake 2s open-source these days.
You've just blown my mind all over again.
Are you planning on selling this or making it free?
Yeah, I think the license requires it be free... I might be wrong... I know when John Carmack and id Software released the source code for the Quake 3 engine, they gave it a GPL license. With the GPL, people could take the source, make their own product and sell it for their own profit. I think this was new, and I don't think the Quake 2 license supports this.
... But I could be wrong.
Oh, and there are good examples of people selling their own product with the Quake 3 source right here on ModDB. I think Padman was released for free, but that Iron Grip game (which looks awesome) is going out with a price tag I think. I look forward to buying it.
No, I was wrong, Quake 2 is under GPL.
Check it out at id software's licensing page: Idsoftware.com
Free, lol.
But we COULD sell it if we wanted... A Q2 licence is all we need, and if we were serious about selling it we would be serious about buying that.
But for now, OD is free, and we cant see that changing on this project at least.
