The Type 96 Light Machine Gun is 50% heavier than the M1918A2 BAR. Even so, it still arguably is one of the lightest machine guns in the Japanese Imperial Military's arsenal, with a thirty round magazine it is fairly sufficient to fit into the machinegun role.
