Open-Source reimplementation of Westwood’s Command & Conquer: Red Alert game engine, updated to use the hardware acceleration of modern video cards using OpenGL and OpenAL for sound playback. It runs natively on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. The game was designed with modifiability in mind, but is not identical to the original. Campaigns and mods made for the legacy game won't work out of the box.

This is a great remake of the old C&C games with the possibility to add own content and so on.

Besides the fact that this game is nostalgic, it plays very nice!

Finally a C&C stylish engine with no hardcoded limits. I'll definitely use this in the future as soon as they get the isometric tiles working. I have an interesting remake title on the way!

Just perfect!

I always liked the C&C series - but unfortunately the multiplayer part was often very very unstable. With OpenRA I'm now even able to play this on my beloved Linux with my friends. I really love what they made with RA.

The best remake of my beloved Red Alert and Command & Conquer.
They also improved it by making the game balanced on both sides.

Great game, but this version on Desura is outdated so can't play multiplayer (well, at least there were no one with my version of the game the times I tried)... So, get the game from OpenRA own homepage: Openra.res0l.net and then it works like a charm.

Enjoy!

This game makes it possible to easily play one of the three provided Westwood games against bots or real players. There are many channges to gameplay balance and some new features. The downside of this game is, that it plays much faster as the original games, in time and money aspects. Games are often won / lost in 5 to 10 minutes which takes out the exploring, evolving and long time fighting part of the original series. All in all it's 6/10 for me therefore.

Great game, really brings back the Old days of Red Alert and Command and Conquer!

Bring back awesome memory ;__; old school..
