Mar 11, 2013 Multiplayer Map 0 commentsThis is a copy of sRGB map but under CC BY SA license.
It is an open source multiplayer first-person shooter. It uses the id Tech 3 engine source code (which is released under the GNU General Public License v2), and fills in the blank with all new media to make a playable game.
OpenArena is licensed under the GNU GPL version 2 - data and engine. Anyone can contribute to it, if it complies with the GNU GPL.
WARNING: OpenArena contains Mature Content. I'm serious. If you don't like shooting the bloody guts and beating hearts out of voluptuous barely modest combatants then don't play it, or play without the mature pk3 file and use com_blood 0/cg_showGibs 0 (but be aware that pure servers may not agree with this).

After a short delay of only several month finally the 0.8.8 release of OpenArena arrived at Desura.
Go give it a glance and maybe set up a dedicated server to celebrate this memorable event ;-)
The 0.8.8 release features a new character model called Neko and a bunch of either reworked or completely new maps for offline single player or online multiplayer games.
Next time a new version is released, it will doubtlessly arrive a little earlier over here.

This map is a copy of legodeck but under CC BY SA license.
This map is based on dm-curse for UT. I made this years ago and now I'm releasing an updated version under GPLv2.
This is the deck16 map from UT1, lego texture style. It has a different layout, with many changes to the original map. This map is an update to the original...
This map is the RGB color wheel, literally. 3 weapons and 3 levels.
Highest Rated (3 agree) 10/10
I love finally see OpenArena on Desura!
It's a great game, maybe the best shooter Q3 based.
Great job devs :)

Are there any Sorlags or equivalent in this?
Liz
Sorlag is an 'alien lizardy' archetype, Liz is just a basic anthropomorphic lizard.
OA3 could turn it to a dragon or something. maybe.
Is the new version on Desura yet? I have not been notified of any updates.
Someone else will need to take on Desura maintenance. I don't have the time or resources to do so myself.
What exactly has to be done to get the new version distributed over Desura? I'm no Gamedeveloper, so i can't really figure out, how much time i would have to spend on maintenance ...
This game looks a lot like unral tournament 2004... maybe better character models
Great game!
I play 2 years))
Bug Detection: shotgun shells bug: black squares, at a certain angle of gaze
And by the way.
What's that noise there ? Why do they say about iOq3-eng. ? Something wrong happened ? why these people are not happy with something ?
OA was originally built for the original source release and it still has assets that respect the original limits. We're still using TGA/JPG/PCX, WAV, and MD3. It doesn't require Ioq3, and it could just as easily ship with its own modified idTech 3 without a relation to ioq3.
You fail to reply to my comment again, is that "reply to comment" button so difficult to click? I guess this is due the "laggy SDL mouse input" as well? :P
The current and past OA builds do not work with id Tech 3. I've already told you that you've messed this up yourself by using the ioquake3 improved QVM format. The only way to get this working with "id Tech 3" would be applying the required ioquake3 code changes to the id code base, which apparently becomes related to ioquake3 by this.
