You may have noticed the lack of updates as of late - both here and on our site. I'm sad to announce that we've cancelled work on the project.

I could write a book of reasons why - one of our two programmers bailed and while attempting to regain control of the project we realized that our hearts frankly weren't in it anymore. The project had become dull an unexciting - working within the confines of an established franchise looses its novelty very quickly. The series itself is just getting rather old if we're being honest, and instead of spending another year or two stumbling through development we decided that enough was enough.

At this time, myself and another artist from the team are working on a new project - one we've created entirely by ourselves. We realize that without 'Halo' slapped on the cover of our game we'll loose a good majority of interest, which is always disheartening, but it's be a relief not having to piggyback off of an existing game to get attention. When we're ready to show it off, we'll create a new project page here on IndieDB (after closing down this project, of course. We won't 'bait and switch' our projects.) The game is still a 2D, sidescrolling shooter/platformer and will run on a refined and reworked version of OWaW's engine. We will also be including some of our custom content from OWaW (eg - the Shredder weapon, ability to teleport, enemies derivative from our Thrashers, ect.) A development blog we just put up today can be found here.

Lastly, I'd just like to thank everyone who's stuck with us this long and kept this project going as long as it has. I sincerely apologize that this had to turn out the way it has.

Here's to the future! - Appo

Voted for best indie. Make it happen.

Also, some sort of way to get at least coop would be nice, if not MP.

Awesome, thanks alot :)

As for Coop - there's no plans for it at the moment. We originally wanted to do it but there's just far too much on our plate and our team just isn't large enough to juggle all that.

But who knows - I'm definitely not ruling it out altogether - we may go back later and add it in as it's something I'd love to see as well.

Like I said we'll see, I won't be making any promises at this point in development. There's still a full campaign, firefight, stats, another mode we'll talk about a later and a map editor - so everything that has been playable by the public and then some will still be in the final version.

And did someone really thumbs down my post earlier? How mature :P

Brought your post back up than.

I should not be talking since I am not a developer for this engine or anything, and I know you have been bugged by tons of people going "LOLZ GIV ME DEHS" when you are not sure if you know if you can do it or not. No seriously, I know what it is like, I am making a Halo indie too.

Whatever you do, best of luck. I will be watching the progress intently.

And I think they said that they will likely finish this next demo in January/February.
Maybe it'll come out this month, with luck. ^.^

We're still working on it on a daily basis, don't worry. Like we've said before we only have a few team members, so progress depends on how much time is available to us.

We're just as anxious as you are for this game to be ready :)

Heh, thanks man!

GameMaker is pretty easy to work with, but it's so limited - hence why most GM games are very simplistic.
