OCEAN CITY RACING continues to move forward on the Steam Greenlight rankings and i'm pleased to announce that the future and the past OCEAN CITY RACING buyers on Desura will be rewarded with a free Steam Key.

Go ahead and purchase Ocean City Racing from Desura right now, and when the game gets accepted to Steam in the future you will receive a free key of the Steam version of Ocean City Racing which would be an improved version of the current build.

Great game, really enjoying it. But the city is surrounded by 'under construction' signs. Will the game ever receive updates with new environments? 'City' behind the tunnel is just a single street and the bridge leads to nowhere giving the false impression that the game is big. This game has so much potential if you actually do implement a city past the bridge and tunnel.

Hi;
Glad you are enjoying the game. A new city may be added to the bridge across the 'desert' area in the future. There is also the technical side that stopped me from making other city areas across the tunnel and the 2nd bridge.

I just bought it and installed it. To answer your question... it's hard to tell. You won't believe this, but you can't set controls at all. You're forced to use the control scheme they chose during development.

This is completely unacceptable.

I tried messing around with the file "DefaultInput.ini" but I couldn't get anywhere trying to make the game controllable in a way that I'm used to.

Tomorrow I'm going to unplug my XBox controller and plug in my Logitech, and use it's mapping software to emulate the keyboard instead of the joystick... if I can even do that.

Pretty lazy guys, to make a game that looks this decent and smooth, and not even let you setup your own controls. Not everybody plays like you do, ya know. I can't think of another racing game ever where the left analog stick's up/down (y-axis) was forward and backward. Just lazy.

I keep replying to myself, what a guy. Talking with the developer on their forum, I created a very helpful walkthrough on how to change your control settings. Enjoy:

Hi;
at DefaultInput.ini for example if you find
.Bindings= (Name="XboxTypeS_Y",Command="ResetVehicle")
and change Y to B , the control would change.
I only had 1 programmer working on the game and he was working part-time on the project and this was not possible to do.
I did the control scheme for xbox gamepad myself and tried to keep it as close as possible to the other driving games.

This is an awesome achievement for a small team! Cars feel great and races are quite fun. Race mode is quite short (finished in two sessions) and free roam is pointless, but for $4.99 I'd say it's pretty good.

I wouldn't so much call it a "racing game" to tell you the truth. Racing is usually fast, hectic, adrenaline pumping. Instead of tearing a path to the finish line by battling other racers, you're taking it slow and steady at grandma's pace just to keep it on the road. With unrealistic collision physics (accidental wall driving in the tunnel) and inaccurate drifting (you spin all over the road, reverse does nothing, and hand brake is too powerful), you'll fight not to win a race, but to continue…
