At a press conference in Taipei, Sony has announced a new PlayStation VR game called O! My Genesis. Very little was shown of the game, or spoken about, beyond the announcement trailer, but the game appears to be a god simulator in the vein of Black & White and Populous.
Developed by XPEC Entertainment, previously responsible for movie tie-in games for the Kung Fu Panda and Shrek series', O! My Genesis uses the PlayStation Move controllers to give you power over tiny planetoids. You can move them around the solar system at will, which you'll need to do to take them out of the path of incoming asteroids. You can also populate the planetoids with small, claymation-like creatures, who appear to interact with you and each other somewhat autonomously.
It's interesting to see games like O! My Genesis use VR to immerse you in an experience that's at the other end of the realism curve - one so large, outlandish, and cartoonish, but one that still uses the sense of presence and motion control feedback to imbue a sense that you're a god-like being of immense scale.
