ATTENTION: Neuromancer is no longer being developed. It may return to development in the future but presently I have no intention to continue development rather begin my own IPs and starting my own indie studio.

Update 25.3.2009

Just updating the site to inform visitors that the game is now being targeted for IdTech4- this may be subjected to change as the project progresses, unfortunately this also means the project is yet again on Hiatus until I learn how to use the SDK. My deepest apologies for this but realize that the overall quality of the game will improve significantly. Also it is a big regret to announce that the Linux, Mobile PS3 and Mac versions will be canceled indefinitely pending research into their feasibility- I deeply apologies for this as well but hopefully it'll happen.

Thanks for visiting and supporting this project. I wish I could have given some better news .

About Neuromancer

Neuromancer Based on the William Gibson Novel Neuromancer, the novel that defined Cyberpunk as a sub-genre of Science Fiction Literature and Media.

This game is still in production - release date has been recalled as the nature of the project has changed. No release date has been set.

Copyright Information

Neuromancer is the intellectual property of William Gibson and was registered in 1984 under US Copyright, the book was published by Ace books and Penguin Books in the US. A game by Interplay Interactive was released in 1989 with the same name, the team behind this remake acknowledges their right as publishers of the 1989 game IP which this remake is based on as well as MediaGenics(Activision) and Electronic Arts, in recent times however these parties have each denied any participation in the ownership of trademarks or copyrights.

Furthermore a motion picture was registered around 2003 under copyright and is still in production however under a new production company- this game remake acknowledges their rights to a film adaptation of the Novel by Williamg Gibson. This remake also acknowledges the graphic novel copyrighted by Marvel Comics in the US with the same name as well.

It has come to my attention that the Video Game's rights belong to Cabana Boy Productions however this company was bankrupted only a few years ago when it tried to fund production of the first Neuromancer film under direction of Chris Cunningham. Sadly the rights to Neuromancer the game can't be tracked down by myself at present as I'm having difficulties finding who owns them now. If you represent any party that may know who is now in possesion of these rights please do not hesistate to contact me immediately.

None of these parties listed are involved with the production of this remake. This is a purely fanbased remake which I am developing for free of charge and for no profit as a test of my skills. This remake is for educational purporses and for free distribution to the public.

I have sought permissions but have had no luck in contacting these people. If you represent one of these parties please do not hesitate to get in touch with me immediately.

I will hopefully be in touch with Seven Arts Pictures and William Gibson's Agent in the comming months to negotiate permissions as these two parties are the main concerns I have towards releasing content.

Episodic Distribution Method

The game has now been changed to Episodic distribution, I will be adding these episodes as Mods to this ModDB profile.

Neuromancer 2007 Tech Demo 1
- Requires Quicktime
Please note that Neuromancer 2007 has been discontinued because of a scope and design change. The distribution method displayed at the end of the game is redundant and being a tech demo the game fails to represent the quality of the final product in any way.

Epsiode 1: Chiba City Blues
Tech Demo 2.0 is scheduled for this episode as a demonstration of the new content and multi-platform editions of the game. No set release date has been given at this point.

Episode 2: The Shopping Expidition

Episode 3: Midnight In The Rue Jules Verne

Epsiode 4: The Straylight Run

A possible 5th Episode could be made based on the success of the inital game.

Mission Statement and Developer Obligations

The scope and mission statement of this project is as follows:

  •  To produce an acurate adaptation of Neuromancer by William Gibson that is acceptable to the fans. However please be aware due to the nature of Gibon's writing everyone will have their own vision as to how the novel should appear on the screen. I will try my best to deliver on a true adaptation to the best of my abilities.
  •  To produce a cinematic animated experience and try to avoid making it look like Ghost in the Shell or Blade Runner or even Deus Ex. Neuromancer will have its own unique fresh cyberpunk style - something that feels a bit more real.
  •  To produce a bug free video game experience
  •  To produce a game that will run on a large sample of popular platforms that support Java (but not all as in some cases it is Illegal to do so - sorry 360 owners)
  •  To release a graphic novel adaptation where I can to avoid disapointing fans
  •  To tell the story of Neuromancer in a unique way - this can involve Non-linearity and also Freeform elements. (I'd like a combo if possible)
  •  To provide a multimedia website outside of ModDB for promotion

Parental Information

Please note that Neuromancer is an adult video game. Using TIGRS this video game is rated ADULT. No one under the age of 18 should be exposed to this game. The game will feature adequate functions for concerned parents to lock the game out so that their child cannot access the game and the game will come standard with the lock on, though it will be easy to remove as to allow genuine over 18 Adult gamers ease of access to the game. It is the parental responsibility that no child is given access to this game and I as the developer cannot be held responcible for misuse of this content by a minor as I have already provided the means of self-censorship and its your choice to use it or not. Neuromancer is an adult story and depicts very strong drug usage as well as sexual references.

Moderate Language
Intense Cartoon Violence
Animated Bloodshed
Sexual Themes
Alcohol Use
Tobacco Use
Drug Use

In no way does Neuromancer force or encourage the user to take drugs nor does it give the user control over the action, the drug references in this game are plot devices and not gameplay devices so they don't add anything to the user's experience rather to tell a story about the protagonists path to self destruction. Drug usage and the sexual references in the game will not be an interactive part of this game and I apologize in advance if such content offends you.

For more information on these ratings go to Tigrs.org

I've just contacted William Gibson's publisher and requested use of his IP so hopefully I get word from them soon on if this game can be considered legal.

This seemed like a better option rather than using DeviantArt to display this game. So yes my name is Mr_Cyberpunk. (You might remember me from such mods as Deus Ex HDTP) I'm now working on my own Stand Alone remake of this classic Cyberpunk Adventure game. Have fun looking at the gallery.

Ok, So i've put some finishing touches on Chatsubo. It's HELL loads more dark than the original I showed. And I had to scale down the scene because it wasn't any better having it so large. Now the GUI has more nobs and buttons than a NASA space shuttle. (essentially eliminating any of those Scroll through menus.) Talking is done in a fashion similar to Deus Ex, where you select what you want to say via a bar list. The narrator's dialog comes up at the top of the screen - which I'll be doing the voice acting for. The PAX has been changed as you should all know by now. I figured "whats the point of having a keyboard for the PAX when everyone would be carrying a deck.. I mean the UPX is like 100 Credits. And the comic states that there aren't any Terminals! Hence I figured that it should be a touch screen monitor."

You'll see a huge resemblance to Windows Vista with the GUI, this is intentional - I'll look into Custom GUIs later but for now I wanted to make something that would seamlessly integrate with Vista. You'll also be interested to know that I've included a title screen which blurs the text and says "NEUROMANCER" - though I'm considering changing that in later versions to something more cool. (It looks similar to the opening of the TV show LOST. (Which I hate btw))

The engine is coping quite well, I've encountered a lot of bugs and this is before I've even started programing any of the real HACKING stuff. Keep checking this profile because there will be some heavy developments over the next month. I'm planing to release the Tech Demo on April 5th 2007 - which happens to be my Birthday and also Easter. The reason is because I've got to get some more content before I'm happy with launching the game. (mostly Music, Voice Actors and Sound FX)

Things are looking good.
