The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is an epic, open-ended single-player game where you create and play any kind of character you can imagine. Be the noble hero embarking on an epic quest, or an insidious thief rising to leadership of his guild. Be a malevolent sorcerer developing the ultimate spell of destruction, or a reverent healer searching for the cure to a plague. Your actions define your character, and your gameplay changes and evolves in response to your actions. Confront the assassins' guild, and they take out a contract on you. Impress them, and they try to recruit you instead. No two sagas are the same in the world of Morrowind.
Gameplay is further extended with the inclusion of The Elder Scrolls Construction Set (bundled with the game). This powerful tool is being used to create the entire game, and will also allow players to modify and add to Morrowind in any way they see fit. Change character or creature attributes and skills, introduce new weapons or dungeons into the game, or create entire new worlds to explore. Consequently mods for this game are everywhere, ranging in size from mere characters to fully themed packs! So should you ever want to expand on your gaming experience, be sure to scope out just a few of the amature modifications available and in existence!

no lag here either - great game ;)
this is the best game of it's time. this was the first game that i bought and i still have it in perfect condition.
I love the game.. but the loading screens do my head in, i have the heavens lookout mod installed (got it from rpgplanet) and when you're jumping with the wings the game stops every 15seconds to load the next section. apart from that major annoyance i love it! there are some great mods like the horse ranch, mobile field base, and all the island add ons.
I'd defo say get it.
Ive only ever had lag once on this game - that was when my computer was going mad over something or other - my graphics card should only just handle it according to requirements.
Yeah i know Oblivion is out, but i need to ask any good modders this: Is it possible to script the following things in a mod for this, Guns, Vehicles, Possibly spacecraft, an answer like yes or no would e best, no long list of reasons =>.
I'm currently running the game on a 1.7Ghz PC with an nVidia Vanta and 320MB of ram (In case you've never heard of the Vanta, it's slightly older than the TNT 2.) I have to run the game in a 800x600 window for it to run efficiently enough for me to fight. The downside (it gets worse?!) is that the game likes to crash sometimes I hit enter instead of clicking OK when dealing with multiple items (EVERY time during alchemy) or when I right click too often, or even if I get into a fight with a paticularly nasty dagoth and click too much. Oh yeah, and it lags pretty badly.
I've never had lag on this game. I have a 9600 and a gig of ram, and leave corpes about, along with only taking what i want, and i've never experienced lag.
It is very smart to have your View distance low, and just try to lower anything else you can. I don't know exactly how low of a system you need to actually make it lag...
If your worried about the lag, then your graphics card may not be to great, and you need a great graphics card. I have some lag tips.
-If you steal from a house, take everything, and taking only a few things may lead to slower loading times.
-Dispose of corpses, the game hates keeping your trash just skatered everywhere.
-If your in a really laggy area and you can't stand it, just look at the ground and walk.
-Keep your view distance low.
-Don't turn your gamma connection to high.
-Don't cast to many spells at once or your game might lock up.
-Don't tamper with construction set to much, or you could really mess up your game. If you do want to use construction set, keep at leat two data files.
-Don't leave doors open.
If yours does lag, press f5 often for quick saving. Hope my tips change your Morrowind life style. ;)
Graphics have nothing to do with the lag in game running speed, it's the scripts it runs every single frame, those are what kill it, script interpretation is not a very efficient thing, I've even tried to write an interpreted language for a game I was trying to make (I've decided to put it off until Jama 2 though)...an interpreted language in an interpreted language :P
Hey, just for some fun in the game, press the ~ key, which brings up the concel, then type this in...
