Hey everyone, welcome to Modlands Devlog #11. This week is a big one, so let's get started!
A lot of new commands for Twitch users went in this week. Twitch players can now pick up and drop objects, eat them, throw them at others, and attack using melee. While testing out picking up objects, we discovered that players could pick up other players and eat them. This seems like a great behaviour, although it probably shouldn't be available all the time, so I added some toggles to the Twitch UI. Turning off trolling will prevent Twitch commands that can cause problems for other players, like being able to pick up colonists and eat them, while turning off PvP will prevent Twitch players from attacking other colonists.
I also made substantial additions to the Twitch UI, adding a refreshable userlist, and a list of the currently available commands, with toggles so you can individually enable or disable them. I'll be adding more to this UI next week; I want to make it so you can invite, kick, ban or silence players through this tab, so you'll have all the social controls you need to run a good stream.
Another big addition this week is I added mobs to Survival Mode that will spawn at night and attack the humans. Green slimes will spawn outside of the light radius, near wherever humans are, path to them and attack. In the morning, the slimes will go away. This gives more of an incentive to create homes. Soon I'll be adding turrets, traps, and weapons for the colonists, but at the moment they can defend themselves by getting up and doing melee attacks.
Finally, the Xmas World is now available through the frontend, so you can create a world that has snow and Santa's home at the north pole. The presents that Santa drops have a lot of great items inside them, so you can quickly become rich in this world just by selling the jewels and gold tools that appear in these boxes. You can also get cats and dogs!
Those are the main things that I added to the game this week. The game is getting super close to what I would consider ready for an Early Access buyable version on itch.io. That'll be coming up soon, along with a shareware version that will let people freely test out the game and do streams on the basic grasslands world.
