Miseriae Trials is a pshychological horror videogame,the first of an upcoming series of unrelated short interactive experiments by JPGalant.

The idea was to make a game inspired by urban myths, "found footage" movies, and pshychological horror games.

The players assume the rol of themselves in the game, the need to solve 6 obscure riddles, gambling their own fate in the process.

In order to clarify some aspects of the Miseriae Trials game, here you have a bunch of Q&As about it.

I) How is the gameplay going to be?
If you accept to play Miseriae Trials, you must solve 6 riddles to escape and win the game.

II) What kind of riddles does the game have?
Most of them are multiple choice.

III) How long does it take to finish the game?
As I said in the description, the gameplay is short but intense. In 10 minutes or less you can finish the game... in one way or another.

IV) Why is the game so short?
Because it is more a gameplay experiment than a regular game. But it was designed like a full game, paying attention to all the details.

V) Can I share the game for free?
Of course. The game is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 4.0 International licence. See the link for more info: Creativecommons.org

VI) What happens if I try to cheat the game?
If you try to cheat, break the rules or try to escape before you finish the game, you will be punished and you're going to fall in disgrace for the rest of your life. Only if you solve the 6 riddles you can win the game.

VII) What happens if I play the game, fail, but immediatly afterwards I play again and win?
If you fail once, it doesn't matter if you win later: you must first take the punishment of your previous fail.

VIII) Is true that the game has consecuences in real life?
According to the myth, it does. So... do you believe in the myth?

Miseriae Trials logo

After several months of hiatus, I came back to the development of Miseriae Trials. The game was announced in April/2016, and was almost fully developed around June of the same year. But after I considered some creative decisions about the design, and -mainly- the minimalistic style of it, I wasn´t satisfied with te result. So I put it on hiatus until April/2017 when I started trying another visual style. After testing several ideas, at the beggining of July/2017 I chose the new graphic style that you can see below.

(NOTE: The screenshots are in Spanish but the final version will be also in English. The available "options" are intentionally hidden and will be revealed on the launch)

As you can see, the new visuals are more complex, and I think is the right step to take to move forward. Also, after a strong evaluation of the game concept, I redesigned some elements of the gameplay, game flow, script and other details. The previous concept of the game prevails, but more polished and revamped, so I think it was a good idea to put Miseriae Trials on hiatus until now.

At this point, the devolpment of the game is on the way and I´m very exited to announce the release date is... November 1st, 2017! For FREE, in digital format. You´re going to be able to play it and share it without restrictions.
