At the GAME British Academy Video Games Awards in 2012, Markus 'Notch' Persson, the creator of Minecraft, was presented with the Special Award by games legend Ian Livingstone. In this video he speaks backstage with Johnny Minkley.

Notch really did change the world! He is awesome.
Notch simply made the platform - the Players changed the world.
I'm surprised (negatively) that he didn't 'thank' his community in the speech. Considering that Minecraft would be literally nothing without the word-of-mouth it has gotten, it seems appropriate.
I find it awsome an old-ish man was hosting the show! great video and notch totaly deserves this over anyone else!
