Nice work! You should add volumetric light effects too while you're going.
Could make some nice effects in caves etc ::)

I see that the grass sides bug is still here, it's here since the introduction of biomes, modders continuously fix it at every update, is there any chance that it will be OFFICIALLY FIXED? :|

Will there be any plan on implementing an option to turn off weather effects for those that have slower GPU's?

And will lightning set fire to any wooden structures, or is it going to be there as a part of weather effects?

Other than that, lookin' great.

Nice update. While the rain is nice, I was thinking to myself "Wouldn't it be cool if there was a "HEAVY" and "LIGHT" rain. So with heavy rain, over time, areas begin to fill with water, but not alot, maybe a half block or so before disappearing within a minute of the rain disappearing.
With the light rain, either a very thin layer of water would be produced, or none at all.
Something I'd dearly love to see in not only minecraft, but any and every freeroaming game is a customization option of features.
I could go on and on about that for a long time, but it would greatly improve the diversity of everyone's personal gameplay experience thus appealing to more people.

Perhaps you could have a smoothing in the transition from rain to snow? looks a little funky chicken for now. But those be some really cool features dude.
