Notch is still out of the building, and a small status update news - Minecraft

I'm half-way through a very nice vacation. There's internet access in the lobby, so here I am, checking in.

I'm also half-way through finishing my Advanced Diver course. Expect more underwater content in Minecraft.

Hey!

Notch doesn't even leave the office before hell breaks loose, so I'm writing a small status update:

Development of Minecraft continues, since I'm still full-time on the game. Currently I'm working on the map file format, because the thousands-and-thousands of files we have now isn't optimal. I've tried different methods, such as a file-based SQL format, as well as Scaevolus' McRegion mod. I'm also adding the option to name maps, so they aren't all "World 1," "World 2," and so on.

Mollstam is working on the website, doing his best to prevent hacking and downtime. We tried to move the site to the Amazon cloud, but their load balancer crashed, so now he's looking at other options. Mollstam has been doing some really late hours lately!

Kaplan and Carl are working on the business side and preparing for Game Developer's Conference. Kaplan is setting up a better support system, so soon we will be able to handle support mail quicker. Kaplan is also updating the Minecraft Facebook page.

Jahkob and Junkboy are working on the "new game."

So far Notch has written Minecraft in his personal blog (Word of Notch), but we can't post there. In the future there will be a shared blog where everybody can post news, but it's not up yet. If you want more recent "news," I suggest you follow us on Twitter:
