it's just as you're looking at it from the side, and the floor is uneven. notch doesn't want to touch the water code ever again. XP
Either way, that lava is just beautiful.

@LochNessCheeseburger The Nether has a roof and a floor of bedrock.
@Nijbu Lava does flow better in the Nether, presumably because of higher external temperature. Good eye.
