Notch was thinking about something along the lines of a 'temporary ban' of sorts until everyone dies and the next map starts.
Problem is that more people could join when you're dead, so I suppose there'll have to be some kind of alternative. Maybe have a long respawn timer/shove dead players in the Nether for half an hour?
I think it should send people to the Nether as dangerous wraiths. Or as monsters that must kill the remaining players, with a reward for killing them ofcourse.

But if not, well its interisting... if you die you need to find yourself in an complete new setting (Well same seed if choosen).
Also i thing its just for SP not for the MP Servers... because how should this work ? ^^; It deletes your blocks and home after dead ? ;-)

Will be pretty lulzy when the same people that asked for hardcore mode start bitching about it cause they got killed by some random hostile mob/creeper just after they got their entire base all set up.
to bad if you make an awesome place and everything and you don't back it up and then one day when your getting diamonds you fall into lava or something less worthy of death ... for those players that will use it don't expect not to someday rage quit and not return for a long while...

Temporary ban seems kind of brutal, there should be some sort of spectator mode, or a freebuilding area until everyone was killed.

It'd be scary if you die in real life if you die in minecraft. You would never risk killing creepers.

why not a random spawn in the same world??...then after a long time exploring you could come across your old home...but this is still awesome :D
