It's a challenging new take on the Metroidvania genre, with a twisted sci-fi narrative and brutal dynamic death scenes.
The game was inspired by titles like Super Meat Boy, VVVVVV and Super Metroid. The Dev Team actually calls the game a Super Meatroidvania.
