Men of War: Assault Squad is the new title in the Men of War series. Assault Squad takes place across the globe during the height of World War II and features a completely new cooperative skirmish game mode with access to five different nations (Russia, Germany, USA, Commonwealth and – for the first time ever in the Men of War series – Japan) as well as increased realism and accessibility. The expansion pack will deliver fans and newcomers an intense new WW2 spectacle with almost limitless replayability.

Like previous games in the series, Men of War: Assault Squad includes the unique “direct control” feature which enables players to maneuver units using the directional keys, rather than pointing and clicking. PC Generals can get behind the controls of a tank to smash through obstacles, crush soldiers under its tracks and fire armor-piercing shells at enemy emplacements, or take control of individual soldiers as they fight.

SKK Studios' Roadmap for future (and current) development. Many of the following are in progress on the backstage, but like yesterday's update, its being kept quiet until the -big bang-!


Seldom is there a mission which doesnt have new units or new strategic tactics to employ. It is this kind of challenge to make each mission different which delays our working scheme. But its clear enough that we are coming to an endpoint which will allow me to click the invitation buttons to the Early Access to begin testing and allow all members to download.

There are so many new models and skins. And this will allow you to explore unimaginable options in Multiplayer with the new maps/upcoming factions and Singleplayer with all the missions. Unlike other mods, we have testing grounds on the editor to make players able to test all the new units on pre-prepared battles where all you need to do is put some units on the specified areas and they will automatically assault/defend their position according to an automated script.

Progress might look slow. But there's more to it than what you'd think.

Men of War: Assault Squad: 2

We told you a year ago and we insist. We have ported to AS2 and we are pleased to do so. Its a much more stable engine for crafting a modification like this, and much more feasible in the long run.

AS2 offers a new engine with multi threading capability. The shader cache have been re-designed, thus we dont have to rely on the adapted external shading files we were using earlier. Also, the overall memory handling has been improved and all-in-all its coming up like a real base game for a HD overhaul mod like this one is.

1.2 onwards will mostly be for AS2. And although we have not tested it yet, we can't guarantee success in trying it out successfully in AS1.

Men of War: Assault Squad: 1

Although as mentioned, we are not going to focus on AS1, we do have members on SKG group which are designing new sequels to 1.11 for use on AS1 and NOT AS2. With very talented scripting skills, this branch of our development will keep the peopple who are reluctant to purchase AS2 happy with the new missions. It is also important to note that most new models will be featured only in AS2 versions, though the future AS1 releases will also bring many new skins, models, and challenging missions brought to you by James, Erwin, etc. -our AS1 team-

Early Access

1st of August begins the Early Access. All candidates who correctly sent an application form have been accepted and will be invited on August 1st. We believe this is an intermediate step between the closed beta and public release.

The Early Access will weekly update the mod version and keep you patched with the newest release. On the other side, we expect candidates to feedback and give suggestions and bug reports.

There are plenty of initiation tutorials and guiddes on the EA group to take you through the innovative and brand new experience which 1.2 is.

Early Access will evolve from a SP release to a massive SP, MP and co-op version. Each week, getting closer and closer...

Multi Language

Lets get international! WW2 Chronicles will have localization files for English, Spanish, and German. We are also willying to do one for Russian. Russian translators, contact me if you want to take part on this!

Offering my GEM engine knowledge & modelling expertise

After succesfully completed a batch of Resident Evil models for the up & coming 'Resident Evil Chronicles Mod' by modder 'Foxboro', I believe I can also help many others with similar needs and requests.

Obviously given the numbers of hours required to do such tasks as animating human models (to which I have gained much expertise of the years), texture mapping and tweaking for use in the GEM engine I do require some form of payment for such services. I have no fixed rate, so its up to those who I do the work for to judge quality wise how much they wish to pay me, but such things as rigging and animating humans can take sometimes in excess of 10 man-hours to perfect given the rudementary nature of the Men of War animation system.

I can also part GEM engine specific information via steam for a reduced fee for 30 minutes or less, ranging from anything GEM engine based. I will do my best to provide the most accurate information possible, although, we are all amateur modders, we all still have much to learn from this engine which has so much potential.

Well, thanks again for all the support, for me and for my modifcation over the years.

Assault Squad is essentially the shinier more visually appealing version of Men of War, I dont find that it adds a lot other than the skirmish mode, some new maps. some new units, and some new models replacing pre-existing ones. It's not exactly groundbreaking however, seeing as it pretty much builds off of the success of it's predecessor, I'm really not even sure why Assault squad was even made, my guess was targetting a streamlined Multiplayer platform, but the game is equally popular as a singleplayer…

Men of War is successful because each game naturally generates its own narrative. It is brilliant because it has character. It is great because (in campaign missions at least) you feel attached to your troops. Assault Squad is Men of War minus all of this, and is horrid. Its lone addition is the new Skirmish mode: a depressing, soulless grind against entrenched AI. Instead of wire-tight combat against a fellow human comes wave after wave of artificially buffed but simple-minded robots; in place…
