You awaken in an Alien Laboratory. They have been using humans for biological experiments. Unfortunately for them, this time the experiment worked! Membrane is a Retro First-Person-Shooter in the vein of 90's shooters that popularized the genre. It follows a protagonist who has been surgically attached to an alien organism, the Membrane. Over the course of the game, the player will discover weapons and “mutations” which gives them powers to progress around new obstacles.

Membrane is a love letter to the visceral run and gun action games of the 90's like Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, and Half Life. There are a lot of games out there that are billed as "Retro," but often fail to capture what we loved about those games that was lost in the age of Call of Duty. Some major points in our Design Philosophy:

  • Large hand made levels, built to reward exploration but allow for speed.
  • The narrative is inferred in game by the world without cut-scenes.
  • A large bestiary that each present a unique challenge.
  • Cooperative play presents a different experience.
  • Vibrant and colorful graphics.
  • Sometimes goofy, sometimes scary. Doesn't take itself too seriously!

Membrane Demo Released

News

Hello readers. Again quite a stretch from the last update, but not without major progress on Membrane: the retro first person shooter.

The last few months have all been polish, polish, polish. Fixed up some attack effects to resemble real lightning-fire.

I also programmed a launcher for some reason.
