"Marooned: Arcanus Island" is a new, and upcoming, first person survival game that is currently in development.

The game pits you alone in singleplayer, or with friends in a cooperative mode, on a tropical island located in the north atlantic ocean. You wake up washed up on a beach with nothing but your brain and your wits to keep you alive. You must gather food, water and build yourself a shelter in order to survive harsh tropical storms, tornados , hurricane's and an unknown threat that is lurking in the dark.
To create this game, we're utilising the Sandbox Editor that runs with the CryEngine 3.

Features:
-4km² Island
-Dynamic Weather
-Day/Night Cycle
-Innovative Inventory and Crafting system
-Beautiful graphics rendered with CRYENGINE

Hello again,

For those of you watching I uploaded an article recently and had to quickly take it down due to an error on my part in which I uploaded an early draft to Kickstarter with outdated stretch goals and backer rewards. Sadly Kickstarter do not let you change this so I had to cancel and relaunch it. Thank you to those who supported us in the very short amount of time it was there, it is very motivating to know people are interested and are actively backing us.

Of course In that article I proudly admitted that Marooned is now Greenlit on Steam thank you to everyone who voted! Hopefully the game will be in it's Alpha/Beta stages by the end of the year and we can push for Early Access on Steam.

RaZoR has responded to your misguided observations, I have deleted your last comment because the comment section is for discussing Marooned. Not advertising your own project. I suggest you read Indiedb.com

Hello there,

Fudsine and I, have been working with the CryEngine since Far Cry 1 came out in 2004. We posted our first piece of media for this project on 12/03/12. We have since written two news articles on the project over the course of an entire year. So it would depend on your definition of every other day. As for the assets, these have been handmade and textured by Fudsine and I, As a 'lead modeler' yourself, if you look you will probably be able to tell the difference.

However we are flattered that you are comparing our assets to ones made by a company with a multi-million dollar budget and that you can't tell the difference on inital glance. Here is a side-by-side comparison for your benefit: Oi46.tinypic.com We have recently recruited a very talented character artist, who is doing exactly what the role describes creating characters and animating them.

Having spent 9 years working with the CryEngine and its source code throughout its safe to say we can handlethe scripting side of the characters aswell as the rest of the game. Thank you for your observations.

I can see everyone wants to see more than environmental shots, the next piece of media we release will contain some form of gameplay element. Stay tuned!

I'm hyped for this project, a survival/exploration game in the CryEngine has been desired by many since FC1, so I'm following your project. But gameplay footage is what we are all waiting for! If it's good I would consider contributing for 'alpha access' if you offered it!

I'll wait until I see some actual custom coded work before I track this.

Can you explain to me in some detail how you are going to implement a crafting system? or what sort of crafting level will the player be bound by, for example crafting a makeshift knife would require a preset number of items in order to make, instead of the alternate approach with having several preset (blueprints) to make one singular type item?

Looks like an over-rated cryengine map editor project. Plenty of projects are already well on there way in development with such a concept.

Why does it have "a future like this"?

I don't see anything anywhere... ;)

But seriously, this is good mapping, but maybe a liiiittle too much of gobbledygook about features that do not have any reliable connection to some images of a quite beautiful map.

Best wishes to the dev team, I really hope, that they can realize this project the way the stated here. The cryengine is full of the force.

Agreed. Haven't seen anything except from promises and fantastic thoughts. It's like presenting a nice looking cake and telling the people that it will do their taxes. Sorry, but imho it is overrated. Not bad though, really good-looking mapping so far!

What about letting them do something first? You can't possibly tell if it's overrated or not with just a few screenshots...
