Malevolence: The Sword of Ahkranox is an indie game with the intent to recreate the amazing turn-based, first person RPGs from the golden age of PC gaming using modern game engine technology. Rich classics such as the Might & Magic series, Eye of the Beholder and the like have inspired this new title which, when finished will put its players into a literally infinite fantasy world filled with procedurally generated content. The Sword of Ahkranox isn't trying to compete with the larger, professionally developed RPG titles out there, but instead our aim is to fill a large gap that we believe has existed in game technology since the mid-nineties. It is definitely a must-have for all enthusiasts of the quintessential RPG. The game's procedural engine can generate an infinite number of weapons, items, spells, monsters, dungeons, cities, countryside and even dialogue, allowing the player to explore the game with no end and no reason to stop.

Sorry it's been a while, guys. I've been head-down-bum-up working like a madman to get this project wrapped up as soon as possible, which has meant I've slipped a bit on the PR side of things, lately... So with my endless apologies, allow me to go over the new update we just put out today!

Sorry it's been a while, guys. I've been head-down-bum-up working like a madman to get this project wrapped up as soon as possible, which has meant I've slipped a bit on the PR side of things, lately... So with my endless apologies, allow me to go over the new update we just put out today!

Today we've put out our version 0.10.700 update - otherwise known as the Halloween Update!
It has in it a slew of new bug fixes (which you can read about in the full release notes), performance enhancements as well as two major new features!

Gryphon Quick-Travel - You can now jump on the back of a gryphon at towns with an aviary and use them (for a fee) to fast-travel across the infinite world of Ahkranox. Now, when I say fee, I mean in-game gold, not real money. Quick travel is expensive at first, but when you get higher level it's easier to zip about. In the version launching tomorrow, you'll only be able to fly around the current world segment you're in (I'm stuck on a bug with scrolling world segments which I'll fix in a future update) however, you can easily travel to new world segments by flying to the edge of the one you're in, walking the short distance into the next world segments, then hopping onto another gryphon in the new world segment. That still works just fine.

Town Portal System - So by now you've seen the cool temple/portal looking things in dungeons and probably wondered what they're for. Well, when you find one in a dungeon, you'll be able to click on it and instantaneously teleport to the last town you were in. Once you're done in the town, you can zap right back to where you were in the dungeon and keep going about your adventuring. This will save the big long walks back and forth to town to stock up on potions and new weapons! Using this system is free, but not all of the portals work. Some are just too old to use anymore, so be careful you don't get blocked into a corner chasing one down with an ogre on your tail!

I hope you all enjoy it! Our next task is fully implementing the shaderless gameplay mode, which will allow people even with quite slow computers (by today's standard) run the game, as well as fix most compatibility issues.

After that has gone out, we'll be focusing on the new, improved quest system, which will be a particularly exciting one.

Just in time for this update we've also made it into the top 100 on Steam Greenlight, currently ranking at position #45! We couldn't have made it there without the support and love of you, our wonderful community, so please accept the team's greatest thanks! I wish I could express just how much it means to us to get your support but the words just don't exist.

We're in the wind-down now and the game isn't far off hitting v1.00.000 and getting its full release! We're really appreciative of your patience and support, and even more appreciative of everyone who's taken the time to show us how much fun you've been having with the game, showing off their found locations, loot and favourite places! It really makes us feel awesome to see that sort of thing :)

Well, I'm off to spearhead the next update. We've made good progress with it already and it shouldn't be anywhere near as long as the last one took. Most of the work is already done!
