Malevolence: The Sword of Ahkranox is an indie game with the intent to recreate the amazing turn-based, first person RPGs from the golden age of PC gaming using modern game engine technology. Rich classics such as the Might & Magic series, Eye of the Beholder and the like have inspired this new title which, when finished will put its players into a literally infinite fantasy world filled with procedurally generated content. The Sword of Ahkranox isn't trying to compete with the larger, professionally developed RPG titles out there, but instead our aim is to fill a large gap that we believe has existed in game technology since the mid-nineties. It is definitely a must-have for all enthusiasts of the quintessential RPG. The game's procedural engine can generate an infinite number of weapons, items, spells, monsters, dungeons, cities, countryside and even dialogue, allowing the player to explore the game with no end and no reason to stop.

So we're welcoming two new modellers onto the team! Up until now it had been Alex, the lead developer also handling all of the 3D models, along with some very generous help from Steve at Arteria3D, but no more! Alex can focus on coding and the new modellers Greg and Ethan can do their thing.

So we're welcoming two new modellers onto the team! Up until now it had been Alex, the lead developer also handling all of the 3D models, along with some very generous help from Steve at Arteria3D, but no more! Alex can focus on coding and the new modellers Greg and Ethan can do their thing.

First up is Greg Schneider, who has been working on his torture chamber subterranean tileset. So far untextured, but it's coming along great, complete with secret walls, blood-drains, wall manacles and torture implements:

After Greg we've also brought on Ethan Noble of Devour Games who has been hard at work constructing the abandoned mine tileset that you'll be able to venture through. Not finished texturing yet, and focusing on detailing the wall segments first, but already it's looking incredible!

We'll keep you posted on how both of these shape up, and post video run-throughs of them when they're completed! Stay tuned!

Mines. My old D&D DM loved using mines for our adventures.
Best childhood adventure memories happened in Mines!

That's nice to hear! We get lots of criticism that our graphics look "cheesy" which I really fail to see! I think our team does a pretty damn good job!

I agree, it looks fantastic. Different games have different styles. I like your style. It has this 'hand made' feeling with careful thought on the details. Keep it up!

Every style is unique but most AAA games try to match styles to reach the same commercial successes. However, this tend to give some gamers a narrow view on what is pretty or has quality. I believe this is where the critics come from.
