Luminesca is an underwater exploration game which follows the story of a little creature called Lum.

Lum's colony comes under threat when a vast, ancient machine grinds into motion and starts to consume all the surrounding water. His adventure takes him from all corners of his environment to the heart of the machine, encountering a rich ecology of inhabitants and learning some valuable lessons about the world around him.

Slightly later than planned, but Chapter 2 of Luminesca is so very close! Here's a brand new trailer showing off some of the new areas, as well as some additions to Chapter 1.

You can pre-order Luminesca now through Desura or luminesca.com. Anyone who pre-orders gets instant access to all available chapters, and new chapters will be added at no extra cost as they are released in the future.

Thanks for your support! I hope you like the new video!

Tracking the game, very promising and with a beautiful art style. I'm a sucker for games with a great art style, should purchase if there are more vids or such I can watch, so I'm looking forward to @Tody's review :D

Awesome stuff :D I'll only review the game when it's completed (all 5 chapters are out), but I am working on a hands-on/preview which should be out tomorrow! :) I will link it!

Spoiler alert: If you're a sucker for games with a great art style...you might not even need to read what I have to say :P

Hey! When (approximately) can we expect a Linux build? I would like to purchase the game because it looks promising but can I be sure about Linux build? This is the only platform I use so that's important to me.

Luminesca is currently using Unity 3, which doesn't support Linux. However, Unity 4 does, so it's just a case of porting it over and making sure nothing gets broken in the process. I was planning to do this after launch so it should be pretty soon provided nothing goes wrong!

But no guarantee, right? I guess I won't buy it (at least for now) then and wait for the Linux version to come. Game looks very interesting and I was taking my wallet our already but I don't want to get the game which may not support my operating system (especially because I've got some cases in the past when I had problems with Linux builds of games even when they were officially supported).

P.S. Shouldn't porting to newer version of Unity be done on as early level of developing, as possible? I mean it may be troublesome when you'll implement more features and levels to the game.

Thought you might like to know that I upgraded the project to Unity 4 today and it seemed to go very smoothly with no noticeable repercussions! I'm going to install Ubuntu tomorrow and test it on that, and send it around to some friends who use Linux.

I'll make the Linux build public as soon as I'm confident it works as well as the PC and Mac builds!

I completely understand your reservations! I don't have a system running Linux just yet so it's going to take a little while to be able to put out a build I feel confident with. In all honesty I would hold off on your purchase for now and watch this space!

I agree that the sooner it's ported the better. I decided to get the Windows and Mac builds out there first and use this as a milestone point to begin the upgrade.

Thanks for your interest! I'll get to work on it ASAP.

This looks fantastic! :D I'm very keen to play and review this. Do you happen to know when the game will be complete? Or if you'll be handing out any review codes?

Thanks! :) Keep up the great work.

Wow, that's extremely generous of you :D I'm downloading it right now, I'm really excited :)

Will start playing as soon as it's done, and I'll link you to any coverage I do on the game (will only do the full review when the game is complete)

Thanks a lot buddy, and best of luck with the rest of development :)
