Lost Squad - is Source Engine based game about what happened to Barney Calhoun after Half-Life 2: Episode One events and why he didn't show up in Half-Life 2: Episode Two.
This is development video demonstrating dynamic destructions at the example of building.
Cool, I like destructions, can you add collision for gibs with other gibs? Its don't look nice when big gibs go through each other.
It looks like it come from a red faction game.
Very nice work!
Is the first building made with physboxes? It looks like so also it really lacks lightmaps/dyn shadows. You sure it won't affect framerate & entity limit? It looks nice by the way.
There are more than 2000 physics objects on map and still no limits hit and no fps drops at all.
Yes but with which kind of pc config ? Keep in mind you don' need much for the original HL2 ;)
We have approximate system requirements on our steam page. They are not so high and probably will be lower at release.
Like he said, the building is only a test.
Interesting. It would be great to see even a bit of this implemented into the final game. Good luck!
I would like to see this in a game because expect Red faction games there are almost any games whit a destruction like that (BBC2 have short singleplayer and my internet isn't good for a MP. Bf3 and Bf4 have almost no destruction so they are not a good option too.) Maybe Arma 2 but my PC can't run that game and it’s too much realistic for me.
I really am impressed by this video guys!!!
Looks great!! I am a real destruction fan, (i really break everything there is a in game, no window keeps alive when i come by lol).
That said, i do sometimes try to implement destruction in my own mods but i am very aware that there are a lot of people who still play on low end pc's, which makes large destructions then impossible.
Watching the movie i thought you had implemented some sort of system that made this possible. But i understand now that at least the first building was made completely out of phyboxes, (seems the second one, the wall was not, at least not when i see how it comes falling down).
I can imagine that even with 2000 phycic pbjects in this map there still is not much of a fps drop. Because there is not much else yet in this testmap, but i am afraid it will cause troubles when there is much more around this house build, and lots of action with npc's etc.
Still, i know your a great mapper and modder so i am following as always your project with rgeat interest and we'll just will see.
By the way Marek33, about games with lots of destruction.
Don't know if you have played the latest Max Payne (3) game, because that one has a HUGE amount of destructeble objects etc. Seems you can really destroy about anything in that game.
(You can imagine how much time it takes me to play that game, because of my wanting to break whatever there can be broken, haahaha).
thanks for this great update!!
Leon
It's not physboxes lol. I could make more detalized gibs for that building but I didn't because it's just a test.
if you make a building out of even 100 physboxes you will get about 1-5fps when you try to destroy it no matter have you action and npc's on map or not. Our system costs only 2-3fps in any map coditions so if someone's pc can run Lost Squad only at 30fps this 2-3fps still not much.
Your right, thanks for explaining.

Not bad
