A technical demonstration of realistic liquid simulation for Minecraft, Liquid Cubed is a WIP project where you can build dams, pump water, drain lakes, and otherwise experiment with the liquid system within the building area. ------- The algorithm used for the liquid simulation was developed over two years by in a modified version of Infiniminer. After Minecraft's wild success, we thought it was about time we built a standalone "proof-of-concept" in the hope that the algorithm could be integrated within Minecraft, but unfortunately more work will have to be done before this can become a reality.

I am not sure if you are aware of this, but speaking as one of them myself many people who own minecraft would greatly like to have a water system such as the one you are developing, and on the minecraft forums there are a great deal of experenced modders that know the minecraft systems, such as the lighting system and infinite map chunk system inside and out.

As far as i know this is a opensource project meaning anyone can edit it right? Well if so then what you might want to do is to post and request for help on the minecraft modding forum, you would likely need to make a post that confirms you are asking for help here on these forums as well so they believe you.

If you do that you could easly have a team of dozens of experenced coders working together trying to adapt liquid cubed to the minecraft lighting and infinite map size systems, while you can work on more gameplay features and more improvements to the liquid system itself.

This means that you could get this system to a implementable state that Notch can use much faster and thus he can implement the system in minecraft sooner, thus benefiting the minecraft community. Sadly because i regestered just to post this here i cant post a link to the minecraft forums for you, but you can simply search minecraft forums on google and then if you decide to do this you should post in the mapping and modding section.

Hi there,

Liquid Cubed is not open source, and regarding modding Minecraft, we believe it makes more sense to operate in a clean environment for diagnostic purposes. If there's anything we need, we'll be sure to ask the guys in the Minecraft modding community for help. =)

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Actualy I did not mean to mod your liquid system into minecraft, I ment that you should ask for help from some of the experenced coders in the minecraft modding community who have learned to code by tinkering with minecraft, they would simply be assisting you to code faster on your game.

It's a good idea, we'll certainly ask for help when its needed, but most of the information we require is already available and is more related to optimizing rendering calls then anything else.
